In the winter, nothing beats a nice bowl of hearty hot soup to warm you up. New York Soup Co have a range of soup that is just perfect for that job. They are passionate about creating big, bold taste experiences based on the eclectic cuisines of New York City. They are made from scratch using fresh ingredients for that authentic home cooked taste.
I was very impressed that their range includes some great vegetarian flavours and I was sent some to taste. We sampled a 'Fully Loaded' Chunky Bean and Lentil, a 'Skinny' Route 66 Red Pepper and a New England Butternut Squash plus an 'Original' Corn Chowder.
The taste and texture of the soups is really good and they taste like 'real' food, not at all over processed. The Corn Chowder was glorious with chunks of potato and corn making it really filling. It is rich, indulgent and creamy, and is real comfort food. It is simple but really delicious and heartwarming.
The Skinny Soups are just 123 calories per serving providing a great tasting low calorie lunch. These deli-style soups are big in flavour. The Route 66 Red Pepper soup tastes fresh and wholesome. The contemporary flavour is inspired by Californian roadhouse cafe that served pepper soup on the menu. the sweet red pepper and tomato combination is zingy and refreshing yet still wholesome and warming. It's a triumph!
Each pot is enough for two generous servings. I love the unique choice of flavours which gives us vegetarians a greater selection. They are definitely some of the nicest soups I've enjoyed in a long time! I'm having the Chunky Bean and Lentil for lunch today...it really is packed full of borlotti beans, cannelloni beans, red lentils and puy lentils. Healthy, hearty and wholesome!
