National Berry Month is being celebrated this July and what better way to enjoy it than with a delicious bowl of fresh berries served with ice cream. Kelly's have created a new berry-licious flavour to add to its range: Real Cornish Clotted Cream & Raspberry ice cream. Perfect for a summer pudding.
To celebrate they sent me some goodies so I can grow my own strawberries and a voucher to try out their new flavour of ice-cream.
I planted out the strawberry plant in a sunny spot with plenty of shelter and put straw onto the soil to deter the slugs from getting to the berries before I get to eat them! We have kept it well watered and it is growing well.
While we are waiting for our strawberry plant to yield berries, I have had to buy some from the local farm shop. I treated us all to a simple but delicious dessert -a bowl of Clotted Cream and Raspberry ice cream, served with some fresh ripe raspberries. Perfect!
The ice cream is rich, creamy and velvety with ripples of tangy raspberry sauce. It makes a perfect summer dessert and can be used to make sundaes or splits!
If you are lucky enough to have a bumper crop of fresh berries in your garden, you could make this easy fruity topping to pour over your Kelly's ice cream.
