Just for fun,  Aldi have come up with a list of questions for kids to answer about their dads. I asked 6 year old Freddy the following questions about his dad!

What Fred Said about his Dad for Father's Day:

1.       What makes your dad happy?

I do!

2.       What is the funniest thing about your dad?

I love you.

4.       What is your dad really good at?

Looking after me.

5.       What does your dad do as a job?

He pays for things. (?? He is actually a data centre engineer!)

Going to work because I don't like being without you.

7.       What is your dad’s favourite tea?

Pizza.

8.       What would you like to say to your dad?

I love you.

9.       What are you going to do with your dad on Father’s day?

I can't say because it's a surprise!

10.     Why are you proud of your dad?

I don't know but I am.

What Fred Said about Music and his Family Easter

Freddy requested some music for us to listen to in the car:

Me: "Freddy you've got such good taste in music!

Freddy: What do you mean taste?  You listen to it not eat it!!!

***

Freddy had a fabulous Easter weekend with his brother, sisters and his nephew Ted all home, along with Ella's boyfriend Frank and Joe's fiancee Jade, His grandparents also came for Easter Sunday.

There were Easter Eggs, our Annual Eggstreme Eggstravaganza Easter Quiz, roast dinner for 12, bunny ears and some rather extreme plate spinning!!  I have honestly never laughed so much in my life!

I love Freddy to spend as much time with his three eldest siblings as possible, as they don't live  at home any more and he loves them so much. When all five of them are together I am at my happiest. We have so much fun!

Freddy is such a lovely uncle to little Ted, looking after him, playing with him and teaching him the odd rude word!  Ella's boyfriend Frank has rapidly become Freddy's honorary bro' and he spent many hours on the trampoline with him playing games that Freddy called Sizzling Sausage, Beetroot, Scissors, the Gorilla game and Avoid the Ball.

Freddy spent the weekend saying that things were "divine" - Ella's dress, his dinner etc. - and that it was the "best Easter ever!" so he obviously had a great time too.

What Fred Said About Jesus and the Crucifixion

So Freddy just said to his dad:

"Did you know that Jesus drowned on the cross?"

Sadly, this was not a case of my child getting the wrong end of the stick.

No.

He was able to go into graphic detail about how crucifixion kills you, including the fact that your lungs fill with fluid because you are unable to breathe properly, which causes drowning from the inside. He also explained how whipping someone with a rope whip, made with shards of bones attached, rips flesh and skin from the bones and that this is a very painful way to die.

It was the local reverend who explained the graphic horrors of crucifixion to my 5 year old during the annual Easter church service. I thought they'd be hearing a child friendly version of the Easter story, not a certificate 18 one.

I had hoped that the words would wash over him, in one ear and out the other, but Freddy, with his sponge-like thirst for knowledge, had taken in every detail of what was said. He just loves facts! He'll happily tell you about it in the same way he will tell you about magnets or the water cycle or whatever else he has just learned from Nina and the Neurons.

Even though he doesn't seem upset by what he heard, I am trying to counteract it with stories of Easter bunnies, fluffy chicks, chocolate eggs and bright yellow daffodils. After all, I don't want him thinking about executions while tucking into his Creme Eggs this year.

The End of the World is Nigh - What Fred Said

Mishearing grown-up conversations can definitely have its consequences.

This morning Freddy nervously asked me what was going to happen after the Zombie Apocalypse on Friday morning.  I had to explain that there was going to be an ECLIPSE not an APOCALYPSE!!  I think he was actually a little disappointed.

Unless of course he knows something we don't!

What Fred Said and his first School Report

school reports, kids

A conversation that happened after Freddy lost one of his Nerf bullets.
Freddy:  Mum I can't find my bullet!  Do you know where it is?
Me: No, I can't see it. You'll have to search for it Fred.
Freddy:  Search?  You mean like on Google?

***

Freddy has a lovely little girlfriend- who I'll call X - at school.  At almost 5 years old he is already quite serious about her!  He had a precious conversation with his dad:

Freddy:  Daddy, I won't always be your little boy you know.
Ian:  You will always be my little boy, however old you are.
Freddy:  No daddy - one day I will leave you and I will be X's husband.

***

Freddy has had his first end of term report and I am so proud of him.  He may still struggle with the written word, which I think is down to his eyesight and him being unable to distinguish letters or numbers in groups. In eye tests he can identify letters singularly but cannot see them when written in a line. Hopefully this will improve and we'll get him reading and writing soon.  He is seeing a consultant for his vision problems in August, fingers crossed for some answers.

I was delighted to see that his teacher recognised him as being a "little mover" in PE.  His dancing skills really are something special!!  I'm so happy that he has a teacher that sees him for the little quirky character that he is.

I remember how terrified I was for Freddy starting school so soon after turning four, and when he was still so shy and lacking in confidence and social skills.  One school year later he is a different child with lot of friends and such a confident personality.  I LOVE his school!  Getting him a place there was the best decision I could make.

Freddy's resounding "Fabulous" when asked to describe his school experience so far sums up just how great this year has been for him!

What Fred Said...about Dora, Dandelions and My Singing.

funny things kids say

Freddy had worked out exactly why he was feeling tired:

I ate my Aero and it turned into lots of energy, but now my energy is used up and it has all turned into poo.

***

Freddy had a yogurt then put the spoon he had used back in the cutlery drawer.

It's OK, I licked it clean first!

***

He put his Nana into her place this week, with regards to her botanical knowledge:

Freddy: Look it's a dandelion. (He proceeded to pick the dandelion clock and blow it.)
Nana: Oh Freddy, look at all those fairies.
Freddy: They're not fairies Nana, they're dandelion seeds.

***

I think the appeal of Dora the Explorer has worn thin.  Whilst watching an episode where Dora was searching for the princess's castle Freddy could keep it in no more:

What's the matter with you Dora?  Are you blind?  Are you blind Dora? It's right there!

(To be fair, I think we all feel that way about Dora too!)

***

Whilst listening to "Wearing my Rolex" in the car (yes I listen to Wiley on the schoolrun!) Freddy deduced:

The boy just talks his words and the girl sings oddly.  Actually all girls sing oddly.  *brief pause* Except for Ella she sings good.
Me: What about me Freddy, do I sing 'good'?
No. You sing oddly.  Especially when you sing Frozen. You do that in a very wrong voice.

What Fred Said This Time!

what kids say

Freddy has very firm ideas when it comes to his education as this little conversation that he had with his Nana shows:

What did you do at school today?
I played.
Did you do anything else.
Yes but there was something I couldn't do.
What couldn't you do?
Work!

Freddy's view on the dawn of man:

All the cars and people used to be statues and God brought everything to life.  He made statue people into real life people and gave us real hair instead of statue hair.

I loved Freddy's attempt at pronouncing these two American holiday destinations:
Flooridor and Clarriflornia
They sound much nicer than plain old Florida and California.

Freddy is a bit of a Harry Potter fan:

I love Harry Potter because he does awesome spells to set things on fire called Incendio and hang people upside down called Levicorpus and blast things called Stupify and make people forget things called....I've forgotten what that one's called.

What Fred said about the dangers of eating too much candy!

orange, healthy eating

Freddy: Is orange a good thing to eat?

Me: Yes, oranges are healthy things to eat.

Freddy: Is candy bad for you?

Me: Yes, it's unhealthy to eat too much candy.

Freddy: Is it because candy is sharp on the edges and goes down into your neck and cuts your throat and then blood drips down inside you and goes into your legs?

What goes on inside my boy's mind?????

What Fred Said

What Fred said when he was dressing up:

"I'm Ella the Cowboy and I'm a naughty cowboy who is also Darth Vader's girlfriend."

Cowboy ella
"What Fred said about the human brain:

"The brain helps us speak and controls all the other parts of the body like feet.  It says to them "Hey feet, hey feet - move?"

What Fred said about themed birthday parties and missing the point of his superhero party:

F: Birthday parties are all about a person.
Me: Yes, they are someone's special day so your birthday was all about you.
F: No, it wasn't about me, it was about another person.  My birthday was for Captain America.

What Fred said to Nana while she was pretending that his woollen toy snake was real:

Nana:  "Ooh Freddy can I see your snake I've never seen one like that before!"

Freddy:  (who stopped dead in his tracks to stop and stare at his Nan before replying in an utterly deadpan way)   "Yes you have Nana - YOU knitted it!!"
***

Tonight was Freddy's school disco and Santa was there.  All week Freddy has been saying that he was scared of Santa and didn't like how he looked and that he wouldn't ever talk to him.  Last year Freddy had a bit of a traumatic Santa visit meltdown and ended up throwing his present across the grotto in disgust! So embarrassing!   He obviously hasn't quite got over the experience! I thought that this wasn't boding too well for the planned Christmas festivities that we had coming up this year.  He was quite stressful about it all, poor thing.

However, Freddy did go to see Santa at the disco and even had a chat with him. He was actually quite taken with him!  He proudly told me that he promised Santa that he would leave him out a mince pie and some carrots for his reindeer.  Freddy said that for Christmas he just wanted a game that he could play with his daddy.   He declared that he loved him now!

Santa gave him a Cadbury's selection box, which Freddy brought home and immediately divided out among his sisters, Ian and I.  What a cutie!  I think the spirit of Christmas is finally alive and well in my boy. Roll on the festivities!!

What Fred Said About Kizzy's Nose Bleed

Today Kizzy had three rather dramatic nose bleeds.  Freddy's reaction to his sister pouring blood from her nostrils was actually hilarious.  Here are some of the gems he came out with between his ughs and oohs of revulsion.

"Kizzy, Kizzy you look like a zombie with blood all over your face."

"I had a nose bleed once but it came from a cut on the middle of my nose and not down the nose holes."

"You need one of those things that keeps blood out of your pants on your nose!"  (Yes, it seems he knows all about Always Ultra!)

"If all your blood keeps coming out you will be as flat as a pie with no blood in you."

"I think it was quite bad and I don't ever want to do that in my world."

"I think a snake bited her up her nose!"

"I won't help you because it's too bad and I'll get blood all over my clothes and I'll cry."

***

Other than this my other favourite thing Freddy said this week was after he tripped up and fell over with a big bang.  He jumped up and said:

"It's OK I landed on my bum not my head!!"

***

This week Freddy won Star Pupil for trying really hard in phonics.  He is starting to read words and shows so much interest in letters and sounds.  It's lovely to see my little boy, who had literally zero interest in reading or writing, suddenly getting all excited by his phonemes and digraphs!!

What Fred Said About Pins and Needles and Tablets

Like most of us, Freddy is succumbing to the winter germs and has come down with a bit of a cold.  He has a good way of explaining his symptoms!

Freddy: I have a sniffy nose and a sniffy mouth.
Me: What's a sniffy mouth?
Freddy: It's when your lips go all dry and lumpy and you have to lick them.

***

He had a conversation with his dad at bedtime:

Freddy: I don't understand about these peas and needles.
Ian: I think you mean pins and needles.
Freddy (slightly agitated) : But what about the peas?

***

Freddy got a bit peckish at suppertime:

"Mum, can I have tasty treat in bed?"  He thought really hard before adding with growing enthusiasm: "Like tomato soup, or porridge or a banana!!"  (How nice to hear that the things he considers as 'treats' are all so healthy!)

***

This morning I woke up with a rotten headache and said that I needed a tablet before I could get out of bed. Freddy ran off and some moments later returned with his Innotab.  "You can have my tablet mummy!"

***

Freddy was making up songs and singing them to us.  My favourite lyric was most definitely:

"Everybody says the X Ray shows your bones at the doctors!"

***

Freddy is enjoying his new friendships at school and one very, lovely little lady in Reception has decided that she wants to marry him.  I was talking to Freddy about how cute that was when he suddenly gasped and said:

"Oh no, I've just remembered that I was going to get married to Snow White instead!"

He also has forged a really close friendship with a really sweet little lad in his class and I was delighted to hear Freddy tell me that he had told him he was his "number one mate!"

I couldn't be happier with my decision to send him to the little rural school and not the big school in town. He is doing so well, bless him.

What Fred Said ... and a Few Beauties from his Big Sister Too!

Another week has come and gone, with lots of memorable moments in our family chatter.  Here are some of my favourites:

Freddy was thinking very hard before saying:
"I think Ella is my mummy."
I asked him that if that was the case what did that make me.  He thought long and hard again before saying dismissively:
"Oh, You're just some kid!"

Freddy was choking whilst eating an apple.  Ella and Megan went to his aid ready to give him a sharp smack on his back, but he composed himself and said:
"It went into my up-hole and into my brain instead of going into my down-hole and into my throat!"

He has been thinking about his future again.  "When I grow up I want to be an astronaut."  I was quite impressed with his ambitious plan and asked him what was he going to do as an astronaut.  Very nonchalantly he replied, " I'll get in a rocket and go up to kill the spiders on the moon!"

Freddy's other thing this week is to change words in songs to Poo Poo so I've enjoyed listening to The Killers classic "Are we human, or are we Poo Poo!" and Olly Murs's "Trouble Poo Poo".

Freddy was describing his teacher to my mum.  He said "She has blonde hair but the top bit is black."  My mum replied "Oh, it must be dyed ."  "No" he  replied, "she's still alive!"

kids

Kizzy has yet again got in on the act with some really classic cock-ups this week that I've recorded for prosterity!

Kizzy though Je T'aime was French for river.  When questioned she said she thought that was where the Thames got its name from.

She made an interesting historical observation:
"I thought all Germans were blond.  Wasn't Hitler blond?" (Err no Kizzy!!)

Her geography has been a bit short of the mark this week too.
"Moscow's in Russia?  I thought it was in South America.  Near Brazil."

Followed by this gem when Ian announced he was working in Swindon next week.
"What?  You're working abroad?" (I think she was thinking of Sweden.)

The pair of them do make me laugh!

You can link up the things your little ones have said as Liska's Said It Saturday linky.

What Fred Said this Half Term

What a busy half term we have had.  Kizzy's Halloween party, then two days at Paradise Zoo followed by two days at Alton Towers Scarefest! Never a dull moment.

As ever, Freddy has continued to entertain us throughout the week with his funny expressions and his interesting take on life.

At the zoo, they have a marmalized blue bowling ball that had been used as a chew toy by a 2 week old tiger to demonstrate how strong their jaws are and what damage even a tiger cub could inflict on a human skull which is much more fragile than the bowling ball. Freddy looked puzzled and asked:
"So if a tiger eats you, your head turns into a blue ball?"

Paradise Zoo

In the reptile house, Freddy saw two huge anacondas entwined together in a tank.  He shouted out loudly and increduously:
"Look Mum, it's a two headed snake!!" (Better than shouting about a five legged elephant though!!)

He also was very intrigued by a skunk.  We explained about how they make smells to scare off other animals.  He said:
"So they fart in their enemies' faces?!" He thought about it for a few seconds before saying enthusiastically,  "I so want to see that!"

He really loved seeing all the animals at the zoo and learnt a lot about them.  I was pleased to hear him tell his dad all about geckos and how they lose their tail and grow back a new one.  It really captured his imagination and he is so receptive to new information, absorbing all the facts like a little sponge.

***

Freddy got caught short in the car and needed an urgent wee.  With no facilities around, we stopped in a lay-by for him to do a quick tinkle behind a tree.  It was his first ever outdoor wee and he thought it was very funny when his wee went on a pile of acorns on the ground.  He said:
"I poured some wee wee sauce on the acorns for the squirrels to eat!"  Ewww!

There has been some interesting and imaginative games this week.  For one, Freddy dressed up with a pink wig brandishing a glow in the dark sword and announced:
"I lived in World of Warcraft last week, but this week I live on a boat because I'm a pirate. I have a boyfriend called Ben Amella who is 45, a girlfriend Izzy who is 10 and has a gigantic sword and I am 6 but pretending I am 11!" Kids are just so random sometimes!  This game went on for ages and the running commentary kept us all chuckling!

But my favourite thing that Freddy did this week was his impromptu Halloween dance routine that he performed in the foyer at Alton Towers Hotel wearing his mummy onesie.  A mash-up of his own song called "Shaking at the Fox" that he made up on the spot and Ghostbusters. The projected Scarefest logo made the perfect spotlight for my all-singing, all-dancing boy.  Perfect Freddy! No inhibitions - just pure fun!

What Fred Said This Week About Spiders and Noisy Girls

Possibly my favourite ever Fredism has been said this week.  He and Kizzy were playing at being superheroes when Kizzy broke wind.  In a dramatic voice Freddy announced while falling over:

"I was distracted by the power of the fart!"

He went on to be distracted by the power of kisses, hugs, duvets, kicks, hair, mummy and magic.  Where he gets his ideas from I don't know!

Freddy had his first school disco and had a wonderful time dressed as a cute little vampire.  When he was picked up he said, "I love my school, it has discos!"  I am so glad he is such a happy schoolboy!

Halloween
Count Fred-ula

We're off to a sleepover at Paradise Wildlife Park tomorrow where we'll be getting up close to some of the animals including a tarantula.  I told Fred he'd be able to see one.
"Great!" he said.  "What's a tarantula?"
"It's a big, hairy spider!" I told him.
"Eurgh, I don't like that at all!" he said grossed out at the prospect.
"But they eat all the naughty spiders," Ella added to try to make him feel happier about it.
"Oh in that case I like them.  Are they like Superhero spiders then?"
I hope he won't be disappointed in the real thing when he realises it isn't wearing a cape.

Today was Kizzy's belated birthday party and we were doing face painting.  Freddy very gently painted his sister with a line and some squiggles.  We told him it was lovely and asked what it was.
"It's a bum with stink coming out of it!!"  Charming.

Halloween
Noisy Girl!!

He had a lovely time at his sister's party surrounded by rowdy and very noisy 11 year olds.  But he did say "The girls hurt my ears!!"

Earlier we went to soft play with his two cousins Addy 5 and Dylan 3. All went well until Freddy decided he wanted to be the youngest.  But as he is 4, this was impossible!   He wanted me to tell Addy that she was wrong and was so adamant that he wanted to be younger than his three year cousin, but still be four! He had a mini meltdown regarding this issue, but thankfully he pulled it back and they all enjoyed an extra little play time in the outdoor play area where they shouted "I love you", at each other.  So sweet (eventually!)

What Fred Said and an Urban Picnic

It's been a bit of a taxing week for Freddy.  I think 5 weeks at school is catching up with him and his sleeping and eating have been affected.  He's been so tired after school and I think he's having a growth spurt to add insult to injury.  It's tough being a 4 year 3 month old school boy.

In spite of that, my lovely boy has still given us some gems:

Freddy: Do you know what gravy tastes like?
Nana:  No, can you tell me what gravy tastes like?
Freddy:  Gravy.  (Logical!!)

The girls were talking about the organs of the body (for some reason) and Freddy told them that he had a heart.  They asked him what his heart was for.  He pondered, clasped his hands under his chin and looked to the skies dramatically..."It loves!" he said.

We drove to Manchester today and Freddy was gazing out of the window.  We went past a big electricity pylon.  Freddy said, "Are we in Paris?  They have one of those in Paris."  The pylon did bear an uncanny resemblance to the Eiffel Tower!

Freddy decided that he needed to enjoy a bit of the outdoors this weekend (he clearly wanted to get involved with #countrykids today!)  Before we left for our day in Manchester, for Ella to attend a university open day, Freddy packed himself a picnic.  He packed a cool bag with some food and also put in a blanket.  He announced that he was going to "have a picnic like Peppa Pig did" in the episode he had watched before we left.

Where was Freddy going to have a picnic?? We were going to Manchester, to the heart of the city.

Freddy was undeterred by this fact and found himself a little concreted spot in the street where he opened up his bag and set down his blanket before tucking into his yummy snacks.  The mild autumn weather was perfect for picnicking, even when there is no grassy spot available.

It proved to me that you don't need to go somewhere fancy for a little one to turn it into an outdoor adventure.  He really makes me smile :)

picnic, manchester

We encountered an intense storm on the way home which resulted in the biggest, brightest double rainbow that I have ever seen.  Eventually the rainbow disappeared from our view.  My clever boy said "Is that because it isn't sunny and rainy anymore?"  Genius!

We are looking forward to our half term holiday, just one more week to go!  I'm counting the days until I've got Freddy home for a week of rest, relaxation and quality mummy time!

What Fred Said ... and What Kizzy Said Too! #saiditsaturday

Here is this week's installment in the things my kids say!

Freddy had a bowl of sugar to dip his strawberries into.  He carried it into the kitchen and told his dad "I need a little bit more!"  He then tripped up and spilled the sugar all over the floor.  He picked up the empty bowl, looked in it and said "Now I need a lot more!"

Freddy told me that he loved me, and I asked him why.
"Because you've got so many bows in your hair."  I wouldn't mind but I never wear any hair accessories ever...maybe he is mistaking grey hairs for bows?

On farming: "A farm is where pets live in fields."

Whilst practicing his phonics Freddy said:  "C - A -T  spells Zebra".  He'll get there in the end!!

We had his first parents' consultation evening at school and I was delighted to hear his teacher tell me several times what a "gorgeous boy" he was, who "thinks outside the box".  She also told me that he liked telling her long stories using a wide and varied vocabulary which he had to tell from start to finish without interruption or  else he'd start all the way back from the beginning again.  She definitely has a great understanding of Freddy's character already.

Kizzy has always been a font of wonderful expressions and sayings that often have us in hysterics.  For example, a few years ago after seeing her dad's new band t-shirt she proudly announced that she knew who AC/DC was.  According to Kizzy  "AC/DC is a robot in Star Wars!"

Even now she continues to delight with her Kizzyisms!

Megan was telling us about her friend who is working in Thailand for a year and how she was looking forward to going to the beaches.  Kizzy asked quizzically, "But isn't it cold there?"  Megan asked her what she meant, to which she replied "Isn't Thailand where Santa lives?" Thailand/Lapland...close but no cigar!!

Whilst shopping in Morrison's I got to the checkout and was trying my best to put the shopping on the conveyor as quickly as I could so I could tackle the bagging up at the other end of the items that were already being scanned through the till.  Meanwhile, Kizzy was sat down relaxing on a bench.  I asked her if she intended to help, to which she earnestly replied:

"If I help I'll get it all wrong and you'll only have to re-do it all. So I'm helping by staying out of the way!"  Oh the logic!!!

Talking about beauty and the concept of people being beautiful on the inside, Kizzy said;

"How can you be beautiful on the inside unless you have eye lashes on your intestines or something?!"

Kizzy has taken to wearing some non-regulation items instead of her school uniform.  For instance she substituted her sensible school skirt for a very short, fashion skirt and also tried to wear a pair of knitted leggings instead of trousers.  I asked her why she was not sticking to her official uniform, to which she replied:

"When you are all wearing the same thing you don't stand out in the crowd!"
Clearly no confidence issues with my daughter!!

What Fred Said about Being Poorly, Praying and the Clouds.

Last week Freddy was a poorly boy, really wiped out by a nasty flu bug. After suffering from a raging temperature and doing nothing but sleeping or crying Freddy rallied round.  At 4.30am last Sunday morning Freddy suddenly woke up and loudly announced that  "my knee-caps were bright red and wobbly which made me dizzy, but now they are better".  Problem solved!

Freddy told me about his school day.
"We sing "Hosanna" then bow our heads, close our eyes and say some words, but I don't know why?"  I really need to explain religion to Freddy, especially as he goes to a C of E school, before he says something embarrassing! He has already got confused between Jesus and Mike the Knight.  What next?

The ethos of his school is obviously rubbing off because he also told me:

"Next birthday I will be five and in Year 1,  then I will look after the children in reception."

It was the element of care and the sense of being part of an extended family that made us want to send him to this school, so I was so happy to hear him volunteer this information to me.  I love his school.

On the drive to school Freddy asked me a scientific question:

"Mummy what are clouds  made of?"
Taking the chance to impress my son with my knowledge, I replied:
"Clouds are actually made up from tiny droplets of water that have...." *cue indignant and incredulous interruption from Freddy*
"Noooooo mummy, they are made of candy floss!" *tuts*

My absolutely favourite thing that Fred said this week was:

"Films are like stories that you watch."

I loved this :)

What Fred Said about his Future, Boobs and the Common Cold

This week Freddy has had a cold.  This has sparked a host of beautiful observations from my snotty 4 year old.

"My heart giggled and it made my throat tickle, then Boom - I got a cold!"

"Why have I got crumbs up my nose?"  (At least it was more polite than saying bogeys!)

"When you do this" *breathes in through nose* "it sounds all snifftly!"

Plus he keeps running up to me lovingly, then wiping his nose on my leg!  Oh the joys of these back to school germs!

He had a new supply teacher at school this week and he was a bit confused by her name.

"She's called Mrs.Dyer.  But she's not dead. She's actually alive!"

***

Ella was chatting to Freddy about his future and a few gems were said!

Ella: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Freddy: A man called Dave.

Ella: What job do you want to do?
Freddy: I want to kill spiders.

Being called Dave is something that is playing on his mind.  He later told me:
"I'm changing my name to Dave next weekend so next weekend call me Dave!"

***

He has made some interesting physical observations this week too!  Out of the blue he said:

"Ella has got bigger boobs than mummy."
He is not wrong, my B cups cannot compete with Ella's D cups!

Daddy picked Freddy up from school one day this week, and he made a nice observation about his dad's car:

"Your car stinks like rotten sweets and barbecues! You should clean it"

Freddy still has very little interest in learning to read and how ever hard I try, he will not co-operate with reading his school books.  Every word I try to sound out with him is apparently pronounced: "B-U-M" or "F-A-R-T"!  I pray to god he doesn't say this when reading with his teacher!

What Fred Said This Week

Another week of Fred-isms has kept me entertained and delighted, as I get to understand the world according to Freddy.  I love his take on things and the way he articulates himself.  He is learning so much and his imagination is developing beautifully.  4 is a great age!

At bedtime.

Me: Close your eyes.
Freddy:  Is that so the dreamworld can come into my eyeballs?

About Jesus.

Freddy:  Who's Jesus?
Me: He's a man that some people think is the son of God who did lots of good and kind things for people.
Freddy:  Is he Mike the Knight?

On Diets.

"You could get skinny if you go to the doctors for a hoperation to take off your skin, take out some bones and put some skinny skin back on."

Personal Hygiene.

"I smelt something today.  I thought it was a fart but it was just someone's stink."

On School.

"I had a really good day.  I didn't even fall over."

On his family.

"Mummy smells of bananas and custard.  Kizzy smells of chair fluff.  Ella smells of love and rainbows!"

On beards:

"The spikes on daddy's face make my chin feel all scrumbly!"

On having his photo taken:

"I don't want to smile, I want to look cool!" (the resulting photo really is pretty cool!!)

On Injustice:

Freddy came in crying indignantly and saying Kizzy was being mean to him.  I asked what happened and he said Kizzy had told him loudly to 'Stop It'.  I asked him what he was doing for her to shout at him like that and he replied "hitting her with a stick!!"

In the Queue at Morrison's we were behind a soldier in uniform.

Freddy: Why is that man wearing those clothes.
Ella: Because he is a soldier.
Freddy:  Does he fight baddies? (followed by very loudly) IS HE A NINJA??!!

Thankfully the soldier thought it was very funny :)
