A Gift For My Future Grandson

Thank You Graco!

I have come to the end of my time as a Graco Ambassador.  Freddy is now three and uses his Graco UGo stroller when he is tired, but other than that, his need for nursery equipment is pretty much over.

However, my eldest son Joe and his fiance Jade are expecting their first child in December.  As with most young couples these days, money is tight and so they are grateful for any help they can get.  They were thrilled to bits when I was able to get them a Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe Travel System courtesy of Graco as my last ambassador's review product.

pregnancy, Graco

The Graco Quattro was the first pushchair we ever bought for Freddy and we loved it.  Even as we begun to review other buggies, we always kept a soft spot for the Quattro.  It was so spacious, sturdy, comfortable and practical.  It didn't need fancy features or gimmicks because it was a good solid travel system that never let us down.  It was good for walking on all surfaces with good steering and a big shopping basket.  The car seat fitted into the buggy making it a very practical and easy to use travel system.  This is why we thought it would be a perfect travel system for our future grandson.

The Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe is now available in black which looks really smart.  My son will be happy pushing this around with his baby son inside.  He would feel embarrassed by a brightly coloured, funkily designed pushchair!  It is a great value travel system too, retailing at around the £300 mark.

I can't wait to post photos of my baby grandson in his pushchair once he arrives.  As he will also inherit all of Freddy's outgrown nursery equipment, I'm sure we will be adding quite a few new pictures to our Graco Gallery!!

Well that was 2011!

It has passed in a blink of an eye and a constant flurry of activities.  2011, has been a great year! My family have continued to make me proud and are my greatest joy and achievement. Freddy has grown into a bright and gorgeous toddler (with a Diva-ish penchant for dancing in his big sister's dresses!)  Kizzy is thriving at school and has enjoyed taking part in the Gifted and Talented programme.  Ella's musical talents continue to astound me with her beautiful guitar playing and vocals.  Megan is doing so well applying for Graduate schemes ready for September. Joe has been promoted at work with his new post starting in January.  But 2011 has been a great year for me personally too!  My blog has continued to present me with amazing opportunities and I have been amazed at how much it has evolved over the last 12 months. Here are some of my highlights of the year.

My success with my weightloss has seen me have photoshoots for The Sun and Top Sante and I have appeared in the Mail Online.  I was the runner-up in the Slimpod Slimmer of the Year competition which was a huge honour, after shedding 3 stone with the Lose 2 Jeans Sizes Slimpod!  This year I want to lose another stone and maintain a comfortable size 12.  That will be a huge achievement and will make me truly believe that I have completely kicked the yoyo diet habits forever.  I am forever indebted to the wonderful Sandra Roycroft-Davis who I have met on numerous occasions this year.

Top Sante shoot by Thomas Skovsende
In 2011 I have been a Craniac for John Crane, a Graco Ambassador and a Toys R Us Toyologist. I have worked with some great companies including UK Mums TV, Aldi, Regis, Pampers, Warner Bros, P&O, Quinny, Next and Ubisoft.  I love working closely with brands that I believe in.  It is an amazing opportunity to test out products and attend events, and share my thoughts on my blog.

In 2011 I enjoyed going to Cybermummy along with fellow ambassador Emma representing Graco.  With a hire car from Hyundai and Lou as my co-pilot we had a great time meeting fellow bloggers and learning a thing or two about the blogging world.  I even won the passport competition, winning a weekend at The Four Seasons Hotel.  Above all though, attending this event was a huge achievement for me.  Just a few months prior to this, I would never have dreamt that I would be able to drive all the way to London and stay in a hotel on my own without Ian by my side.  This was a real test for me and my self-confidence...and I've not looked back since!
Feeling like an official Blogger at Cybermummy
I took Kizzy to the Hexbugs Bedbugs Sleepover at London Zoo.  It was amazing sleeping on the floor of a bug house alongside ants and cockroaches after having a private tour of the zoo by torchlight.  We went with Helen and her daughter Hanna who were perfect company.

Meeting a Tarantula at London Zoo
The Next event to preview the SS12 range was a wonderful, child friendly affair where we were thoroughly spoiled!  I had some photos taken of Freddy which I absolutely love.  I'm proud to be part of the Next Blogger Network and would love to work with them again in 2012.

Fred modelling his Next jeans (Next jumper was removed prior to photoshoot!)
I guest edited Real People which was a real highlight of the year and got to produce a two page spread that appeared in the magazine.  It was an amazing experience that gave me the chance to recommend some of my favourite blogs and top toys.

My Real People pages!
Attending the Tots 100 Butlins Christmas Party was a wonderful opportunity to combine blogging with my family, as me, Ian and the kids descended on the Bognor Regis resort.  I had a really great time catching up with favourite online friends and spending some quality pre-Christmas fun with my family.  Thanks again to Sally!
Our Tree Decorating Team at Butlins
The Rachel's Organic event at Buxted Park Hand Picked Hotel was another wonderful opportunity.  We watched top chef Lucy Hyder prepare dishes using Rachel's products before being treated to a sumptuous four course meal in the 5* restaurant.  The hotel was exquisite, the company was superb and the food was out of this world.
Me and Lucy Hyder of Buxted Park.
I have enjoyed family outings to zoossafari parks, theme parks, Blackpool dungeons and events such as Bob's Big Build (where we enjoyed a marvellous breakfast on board a Clipper alongside Danielle, Helen and families before arriving at the O2 for lots of Bob related fun!).  Sharing the benefits of blogging with the children and Ian is a real bonus, making the hours spent tapping away on my laptop worthwhile.  The children have also relished the opportunity of being my Tiny Testers, helping me with my reviews.  I couldn't have done it without them!
Kizzy at Bob's Big Build
What a great year 2011 has been!  Here's hoping that 2012 is going to be as successful, eventful and fun for us all!  I hope to see many more of you in 2012...our community is a wonderful place and I am honoured to be a part of it!  Happy New Year! xxx

A Car Seat Fit for Lightning McQueen!

I've loved being an ambassador for the Graco brand throughout 2011.  I've tested some amazing products...the Symbio, Fusio, Nautilus, Ugo and now the Graco Disney Pixar Cars Junior Maxi Plus car seat.

With Cars 2 now released on DVD, Freddy is enjoying watching Lightning McQueen and Mater as his Disney fix of choice!  So to combine his favourite characters with my favourite nursery brand was a winning formula!

The Junior Maxi Plus is the last car safety seat your little ones will require, seeing them through the time when they are legally required to use one.  Suitable for ages 3-12 years (15kgs +), it uses the car's seatbelt to secure the child.  The arms and head support are height adjustable to ensure the best fit and this also allows the car seat to grow with your child.

Safety is paramount with triple side impact protection, integrated seatbelt guides and intuitive belt routing.  The backrest can be removed to make a booster seat for older children.

For comfort, there is a 2 position recline for the padded backrest.  There are also 2 retractable cup holders for drinking on the go!

The gorgeous design features all your favourite Cars 2 characters...Finn, Lightning and Mater.  The dark blue cover is machine washable and has snazzy red piping.  Freddy loves the design and will soon be using his Junior Maxi Plus for occasional use in his Daddy's car, until he outgrows the Nautilus and uses it permanently.  The beauty of the Junior Maxi Plus is that it can be transferred from car to car really easily, keeping your child safe if travelling in other people's vehicles.

The Junior Maxi Plus is available in Toy Story, Cars and Disney Princess designs which will appeal to all Disney fans (and their Disney loving Mums!!)

RRP is £69.99 and it is available from good stockists including Argos, Babies R Us and Halfords.

Graco U'Go Stroller Review

As a Graco ambassador I've tested some amazing products over the months including the Symbio, Fusio and Nautilus.  My latest product is the U'Go which is Graco's lightweight stroller, perfect for the summer holidays...convenient, compact and comfortable.

The U'Go looks good in black and grey with white patterns embroidered onto the padded seat.  It was easy to assemble, the wheels just click into place.  It has a good sized basket underneath and a pocket attached to the back of the hood which is perfect for storing your mobile and car keys.  It has swivel wheels and a foot operated braking system.

We took our U'Go to test out on our day out to West Midlands Safari Park.  It is such a compact stroller it took up very little boot space.  It is light and easy to carry when folded with a really useful handle on the side.

Brilliant Carry Handle makes carrying it a breeze.
Its compact size takes up very little boot space.
The U'Go was a good height to push and I was able to hang my Graco Baby Bag across the handles and store a lot of our stuff underneath.

Plenty of room for our paraphenalia.
During the course of our visit to the zoo, the U'Go was tested out for comfort by Freddy and Jack (son of Helen from The Crazy Kitchen!)  They are both 2 years old and both had a sleep in the U'Go.

Jack ponders the comfort of the U'Go
Freddy fast asleep.
The U'Go must be very comfortable because both boys had a long nap, happy in the well padded seat.  The backrest reclines from 100-150 degrees.  It was easy to push the stroller and it manoeuvred well around the attractions.  The stroller is only 48cm wide making negotiating tight spaces simple.

Perfect for holidays and days out.
The best thing about the U'Go which puts it above many other strollers on the market is its ease of folding.  The one-hand fold mechanism is so effective.  I could fold it down whilst holding Freddy in my other arm.  It folds smoothly and quickly and easily.  The latch secures it so the U'Go can be carried using the carry handle.  This makes it perfect for travelling and holidaying.  It weighs just 7.9kg.

The U'Go is available from Kiddicare for £84.  It is an excellent buy and a great stroller for convenience, compactness, ease of use and comfort.

My Cybermummy Experience

From the moment our Hyundai Santa Fe arrived, the Cybermummy excitement began!  I hadn't driven further than 20 miles for years.  I had developed a touch of agoraphobia and a total loss of confidence resulting in my self-imposed 20 mile radius of containment. But here I was with gorgeous vehicle that meant I had to drive to Central London without relying on my husband and personal chaffeur Ian.  This time last year I would have been rocking in the corner, rigid with fear at the prospect of having to come out of my comfort zone.  However, since I started my blog in September last year, miraculous things have happened.  My self-worth has grown exponentially, my confidence has increased, I have validation, purpose and self belief.  I feel like I really exist in the world, and not just within my four walls.  So the arrival of the Hyundai heralded an opportunity.  A chance for me to actually break out on my own.

Armed with a spanking new Sat Nav that Ian had bought for me especially for the journey, and with my co-driver Louise, I was raring to go.  Apart from the trauma of leaving my breastfeeding boy I was eager to take the bull by the horns and test out my newfound independence!

The three and a half hour journey from Shropshire to London was made all the more entertaining by Hyundai's challenges that had been set for all six of the carshare cars, and more satisfying due to the hamper of goodies that kept us going whilst navigating the M6!  The car itself was a joy to drive...my first foray into the automatic car market was something I thoroughly enjoyed.  The car was responsive, powerful and the steering was light for such a big 7 seater 4x4 vehicle!

Finding a parking space in Central London was a bit hair raising, and we ended up in a scary place up a narrow, steep ramp in the back of beyond.  But we had made it!

The Hoxton Hotel was a very modern and funky affair.  My room was amazing with modern decor and a huge bathroom with wet room.  Once I worked out the I needed to put the keycard into a slot by the door to activate the electricity I was fine (till then it was a bit dark!)

Being on my own for the first time in years was not at all scary.  I have really grown through the miracle of blogging!

We spent the evening with Sandy Calico and her dinner guests at a little Italian Pizzeria.  Bar being given bad directions and walking in the London rain for half an hour longer than we needed to, with Lou in her spiked heel party shoes, we made the rendez-vous to meet with some old friends and make some new ones!  We were slightly bedraggled but as soon as the food arrived all was well in the world! Our first goodie bag, courtesy of Sandy,  was very impressive!  Walking back to the hotel resulted in poor Lou's feet bleeding...my Converse may not have looked as sexy, but my feet were unscathed!

The night spent alone in the crisp white sheeted luxury of the Hoxton bed was devoid of any sleep.  I'm just not used to being free from the high alert state of wakefulness that co-sleeping creates.  However, it was a very comfortable sleepless night!

Next morning we took a black cab to the Brewery and felt very official with our lanyard and name card.  We had to go to hand in our Hyundai keys at their stand first thing, and the seductive nature of the other brands with their giveaway goodies and friendly banter was quite addictive.  Chatting to the PR ladies at Crocs, Butlins, the Portland Hospital and E45 made us lose all track of time, and before we knew it we had totally missed the opening speeches and Sarah Brown's Keynote speech.  Oops...note to self....buy a watch!!  I had no idea of the time but the lack of bloggers really should have given it away!  I was gutted to have missed the highlight of the morning....and pretty sad to have missed the Dodo Pads which were given away on the tables.  But this faux pas is very typically me.

We attended a Facebook and Twitter Workshop (we meant to attend a different one about marketing your brand but again, it is typical of me to go to the wrong place!!)  However it was imformative and I learnt all about bitly.

I also attended the Working With Brands workshop which was really informative and interesting (except for the last speaker...sorry, the sociology of parenting just wasn't a good fit to the proceedings.  Apologies if our sneaking out was offensive!)

It was an incredibly exhausting day, but coffee, chocolates, pop, smoothies and other goodies (Johnson's Baby Cupcakes were so divine!) were on hand for caffeine or sugar hits when the energy levels sapped.  I was very good and ate next to nothing naughty....but with Sandra from Thinking Slimmer there, I wouldn't be anything other than virtuous would I!  She was as lovely and supportive in real life as she has been in the virtual world!  Meeting Trevor, the voice of the Slimpods, was a particular highlight of my day....he has been "with me" on and off since last November, helping me lose weight and keep on the dieting straight and narrow. (And he smelt really nice!)

The final crowd sourced speeches were a wonderful way to round up the official proceedings.  There were a range of subjects covered from the incredibly moving story of childhood cancer to the hilarious story of vibrator disposal.  They really showed the diversity of the blogosphere, which to me is its beauty.

Most of all to me, it was meeting the wonderful women from behind the words, that made Cybermummy 11 the wonderful experience it was.  Catching up with Blog Buddies from previous events was fabulous.  Having a laugh with Emma my fellow Graco Ambassador was such fun.  Meeting the lovely Mumentum ladies including  Liska , was a wonderful way to put faces to the names of the supportive bunch who have encouraged me along  my weightloss journey. Sitting with Working London Mummy who I first met through the Brit Mums Comment Group, as we watched Boris Johnson's sister get a bit of verbal abuse from the floor was memorable!  Super Amazing Mum lived up to her moniker...when we first met in the virtual world last year, due to both being finalists in the same national competition, we would never have believed our blogging would have lead to us both meeting at the biggest UK conference for Mummy Bloggers.  There are too many other people to mention by name, but I loved meeting everyone on my 'must meet' list.  I was just sad that I didn't get to meet Kate Takes 5...but I saw her up on stage, so that will have to suffice.

I was delighted, humbled and overjoyed when people recognised me and wanted to talk to me.  I felt proud of myself and my blog, and a little incredulous that I was actually at a conference in London, unthinkable just 9 months ago!

To top off a fabulous day, I won the top prize in the Cybermummy Prize Draw and will be off to a hotel with the family as a result.  I was thrilled to bits!

We drove home afterwards and arrived back in Shropshire at 1am...knackered but in a good way.  My baby boy and his daddy were sound asleep in our bed.  Freddy woke up at 5am and I couldn't have been more delighted to see my little man because by this time I was actually crying with intense boob pain from not feeding him for over 36 hours.  I hadn't anticipated just how bad I would feel...weaning by cold turkey would have worked for him, but not for me.  I had rock hard boobs and lumps in my armpits that made my toes curl with cringy agony! But I am starting the gradual process of weaning him now, knowing that he can cope without breastfeeding during the day.  Another step on my journey begins.

Cybermummy 2011 was an experience I am delighted to have had and I am grateful to Graco and Hyundai for making it all so possible!

Connect With Your Baby

On Thursday April 21st  I attended the Graco Press Event in London along with my fellow ambassadors and the new Fusio testers. It was wonderful to put faces to the names and eventually meet my virtual friends in person!  It was an interesting and informative meeting that focused on the interaction of parents with their babies. Experts Emma Kenny and Suzanne Zeedyk gave entertaining and thought provoking presentations.
psychologist, TV, Emma Kenny, Connect with Baby, Graco
Psychologist Emma Kenny
Babies are born connected.  They thrive when given the stimuli of attentive, loving parents who communicate with them from birth.  Many years ago, all babies were proudly wheeled around in the high Silvercross prams facing their parent or Nanny.  Over the years, efficiency and engineering took priority over the designs of products for the nursery industry, and pushchairs became the efficient, forward-facing, swivel wheeled  creations we see today.  But in striving for this design, we are neglecting the element of interaction between parent and child.

In the first three years of the baby's life, its brain grows at its most rapid rate.  Interaction plays an enormous part in its growth and development.  Babies are born connected to others.  A newborn baby will instinctively try to mimic us and will respond to familiar stimuli from the womb.  The baby can differentiate between voices and recognise music that was listened to in-utero.  Babies respond to attention and this love and nurturing helps form neural pathways in the brain, helping the baby to make sense of its environment.

It is this interaction that is at the forefront of Graco's latest pushchair designs.  The Fusio and the Symbio both have the rearward facing feature, allowing babies and toddlers to enjoy communicating with their parents when out and about.  Mum and Dad can chat to, sing with and have eye contact with their precious little ones.  This reduces baby's stress levels in the face of life's hectic environments and helps them feel safe and content.   This aids their mental and emotional development and helps the neural pathways develop. It also releases Oxytocin into the bloodstream which is the "feel good" hormone which will help our babies feel happy! Giving our babies this start in life can help them become more confident as they grow up.

I am proud to be an ambassador for Graco, a company at the forefront of innovative designs which help secure the bond between parent and child during these all too important formative years.  Giving children the best start in life, may give rise to the next generation being more secure, loving, empathic, happy and well rounded.  It certainly wouldn't hurt to try and make the world a better place!!

Graco Nautilus Car Seat Review

One of the fabulous things about being a Graco Ambassador is that I get to try out items from their range of baby products.  Our latest product is the Graco Nautilus Car Seat.  The seat is suitable for stages 1,2 and 3 which means it can be used for children from approximately 9 months to 12 years old.  It can be adapted to suit your child's stage of development so it grows with your child making it a cost effective option.

The seat looks very smart with its Blackstone cover.  It has a cup holder which is just perfect for holding a beaker or bottle.  There is a recline handle for the seat if baby nods off, but it only reclines a little way from the upright position.  The five point harness is easy to use and can be adjusted with baby, ideal to tighten or loosen the straps depending on what baby is wearing  The straps are padded and height adjustable.  The mechanism on the harness is not fiddly, which is a real consideration when wrestling a wriggly toddler!  The crotch strap is adjustable and we moved it to the next position making it the perfect fit for Freddy at 20 months.  I liked that the straps were fully adjustable, it gave me confidence that it fitted him perfectly.

The seat is a good size and Freddy seems comfy in the padded seat. It is quite high giving him a good view out of the car window which he enjoys.  He sleeps in it quite happily, resting his head on the padded sides.  The seat fits really securely into the car and I feel very confident with its side impact protection.  It feels very sturdy, strong and safe.

Freddy is definitely testing out the Nautilus fully.  He enjoyed the dregs of my Starbuck's Chocolate Frappuccino seated comfortably in his seat and used the cup holder for his straw. Thank goodness the cover is fully machine washable!

This seat can be used without the harness by using the seat belt when the child weighs 15-18kg.  It will last Freddy for years!  The head rest is height adjustable and having a play with it I can see how it will grow with him.

Ian was really impressed with this seat.  He fitted it easily and it was very intuitive.  He said it felt "solid as a rock" and "would withstand impact". He said it made our former seat look "flimsy by comparison".  He definitely approves of this seat to keep his precious boy safe in the car!!

The Nautilus is available to purchase from Halfords, Toys R Us and Amazon and other good retailers.  Priced at £129.99 it is a really cost effective option that will last until your little one is no longer required to use a car seat!  It has a five star rating on Halfords website and is currently available at the great price of £99 (so be quick!).  So if you want a car seat that will last and is safe, comfy and secure...check out the Graco Nautilus!

Graco Symbio & Fusio Reviewed

As a Graco Ambassador I have been incredibly fortunate to have both the Symbio and the Fusio in my pushchair collection.  I regularly use both of them and genuinely love them both.  Here's an overview of both pushchairs.

Symbio

Positives:
  • Flip over handle to allow for interaction with baby at anytime.  I loved this feature!
  • Really soft snuggly material for the seat and cosy toes.
  • Excellent hand operated braking system.
  • Smooth handling with pneumatic tyres, suspension and good size swivel wheels.  The Symbio could handle different terrains with ease.
  • Good height for tall parents and lovely to push!
  • Really stylish design and has an attachable matching baby bag.
Considerations:
  • The storage basket is OK for everyday essentials but you can't fit bulging shopping bags underneath.  Nor can you hang them from the handles, so you need a helper willing to carry your bags for you on a mammoth shopping spree!
  • The Symbio pushchair chassis folds down separately from the seat so although this is perfect for transporting it by car, you couldn't carry the folded down Symbio, the seat and your baby singlehandedly.

Fusio

Positives

  • The Fusio is a lightweight stroller with the benefits of a travel system and with the option of fitting the seat in either a forward or backward facing position.
  • Big storage basket and separate handles perfect for lightweight bags, which allows for maximum shopping!
  • Easy to manoeuvre indoors...perfect for shopping centres.
  • Really simple to use raincover...genius!
  • Folds down easily and can be carried one handed.
  • Excellent for public transport.
Considerations
  • The small wheels make it less adaptable for off roading.  Bumping up kerbs is easy though, if you use your foot on the back to tip the Fusio up.
  • It is quite a narrow seat...so may not suit a chunkier toddler until they are 3 years old.
I use both pushchairs regularly.  Both are well designed for functionality and style. The Fusio is great for shopping trips.  It fits well in the car allowing extra space for shopping bags.  It also has the capacity to carry quite a lot of shopping (but remember to take care not to tip the Fusio by overloading it!)  It is easy to use and Freddy is comfy and snug.  I took the Fusio to Central London for the Ideal Home Show and it was a real asset to have it on the trains and tubes and at the show itself.
The Symbio is a delight to push when out and about.  I love to use it when I'm going for long walks, on the school run or on days out. It handles obstacles with ease and it feels safe and secure.  It is a dream to handle and is ultra comfy for Freddy.

Graco really have scored top marks on both pushchairs.  Freddy is equally happy in both and sleeps beautifully in either.  I'm glad I don't have to choose between them...they are both brilliant and I consider myself incredibly lucky to be a two pushchair family!

The New Graco Fusio

As Graco's new Ambassador, I was sent the brand new Fusio to try.  It's not yet available in the UK (it's available to pre-order for March delivery) so I felt very privileged!

The package arrives.
As my husband was available for pushchair building duties, I gave him the pleasure of putting the Fusio together.  He said:
"It went together really easily.  The wheels just popped into place.  I was impressed that it could be disassembled if it needed to be."
Ian with his helper Kizzy checking out the instructions!
The Fusio looked great.  It came complete with a newborn liner and apron, a foot muff and a raincover.  So it is a complete package.  The seat unit has a reversible option so it would see you through from birth to the toddler stage, making it an economical option and great value for money.  It supports the idea of sustainable living...as it is a pram and a stroller, it suits baby's needs at all stages...so it's future proof!
Stylish design
I loved the grey and black design which is perfect for either a boy or girl and looks very stylish.  The shopping basket is a really good size, which is useful for shopping.

The real selling point of the Fusio is the fact that although it has a lot of the benefits of a full travel system, it also has the convenience of a stroller.  It folds telescopically, is lightweight and easy to carry, compact and easy to store away in the boot of your car.  This makes it perfect for travelling or for shopping trips.  The Fusio has swivel wheels so you can easily negotiate the aisles of a shop or supermarket.

Trafford Centre
Comfy to ride, easy to push
We took the Fusio to the Trafford Centre in Manchester.  It took up very little boot space...more room for shopping bags!!  It was easy to put up (after a little practice) and Fred was comfy and secure.  The handles are a good height and the Fusio steered easily around the shopping centre.  There is ample room for bags underneath and we could hang extras on the handles (it didn't tip up!)  Freddy fell asleep and the reclining seat was easily adjusted so he could have a peaceful nap.  The Fusio is much more luxurious and comfortable than other strollers I have used, so you are getting the best of both worlds.
Reclining zzzzz
We included a trip to the Legoland Discovery Centre in our day out.  It was very crowded, but the Fusio negotiated the masses well.  As it is so compact it fitted easily through the attractions of Miniland and through doorways. It folded down and parked up neatly in the buggy park when we went on the rides and into the 4D cinema.  It was certainly beneficial to be using the Fusio in such a limited space.

The Fusio folds down easily (again I had to practice but that is more a reflection on me than it!!)  It can be carried one handedly when folded down, which is a plus when juggling with a toddler and shopping bags.  It also stands up when folded which is also useful when loading everything back into the car.

Overall, we enjoyed the benefits of the Fusio in an environment where its compact size, light weight, manoeuvrability, storage space and comfort for baby were a consideration.  It's perfect for a day out shopping and Freddy was definitely happy, comfortable and secure on our big, busy trip to Manchester!
Watching the world go by.

Stopping for a bite to eat.
End of a busy day.

I'm a Graco Ambassador and I'm going to Cybermummy!

It's Friday again so here is my post for A Calm Zoned Kid aka my 8 year old daughter Kizzy's meme!  We have to submit a post and a pic of something "fab" we have done, achieved or made...to celebrate the fabulous moments in our lives!

This week has been a good one.  I've won a few prizes, I've got a few reviews in the pipeline and my family have made me proud and happy for lots of different reasons.

I've also restarted my Thinking Slimmer Slimpod hypnotherapy and feel certain I can lose a stone!

But my Fab Friday entry is:

Today I heard I had won my Graco Symbio Ambassador Competition.  I've worked really hard since November reviewing the Symbio pushchair (check out the page tab to see links to my campaign).  I've roped in all the family to help me and we have had some fun!  It feels wonderful to have my efforts rewarded and to establish myself a little bit more into the blogosphere!

Oh Christmas tree...Oh dear!!!!

It's still ten sleeps until Christmas.  The Christmas tree is still standing, but only just.  Freddy adores baubles.  He thinks they are brightly, coloured little Freddy sized balls, hung tantalisingly on the tree just for him.  His delight in removing them from the artificial bows is palpable.  The grin that spreads across his little face, is a physical reflection of the joy he feels, at the moment when the shiny projectile is hurled across the room.  The satisfying sound as the plastic sphere hits the nearest wall, has Freddy literally jumping for joy, as he runs on the spot on his tippitoes.  It is an activity that has not grown old.  The novelty which I thought would wear off in a couple of days, hasn't!  However many times I return the now rather battered baubles to the tree, I know that within minutes they will be removed again in the same exuberant manner!  Consequently, to a height that is equivalent to Freddy's reach, the tree is pretty bare!  But, who I am to dictate how a 17 month old expresses his love of Christmas!

However, I think even by Freddy's standards, things have been taken to extremes.  He managed to get a hold of his Graco Symbio pushchair and, thanks to its super easy manoeuvrability, wheeled in straight into the tree!  Does he love his new pushchair so much he wanted to put it on the tree alongside his newfound favourite toys, the baubles??  Was he trying to share his new game with his new wheels?  Who knows what goes through the mind of a toddler...but he was very pleased with himself for doing it!

I wonder if the tree will be standing by Christmas?  Only time will tell.  But I'll be keeping the brakes on next time I leave the Symbio indoors!

Ode to my Graco Symbio!

One of the things that my children always do at school this time of year is an acrostic poem.  It's one of those poems where each line begins with the letters that make up a word, which is the subject of the poem.  So, after hearing yet another Christmas one, I decided I'd give it a go for the the Symbio.  This lovely pushchair has become a big part of our life...I take my reviewing very seriously!  Trying and testing the pushchair, and seeing how it fits in with my family life! So here is my ode in acrostic form!  I had some fun with it.

G is for glad I'm reviewing...so pleased.
R is for raincover that fits on with ease.
A is for Awards...a well deserved gold.
C is for cosy toes, so snuggly if cold.
O is for options, carrycot or carseat.
S is for safety, these brakes work a treat.
Y's for our youngsters who travel in style.
M's for manoeuvrable, mile after mile.
B is for bag that attaches with hooks.
I is for interaction...towards Mum baby looks.
O is for original and thoughtful design.

Graco Symbio...so happy you're mine!

Best Sleigh'd Plans (see what I did there?)

Today, we thought it'd be a lovely treat for Freddy to take him to the Local Garden Centre to visit Santa.  At the weekends it gets so busy, so when a midweek window became available, it was too good to resist.  We planned to get some lunch in the lovely restaurant and look at all the wonderful Christmas displays that Bridgemere had to offer!

It's only six miles from our house.  We had our annual festive compilation CD playing.  The gorgeous rural setting was a wintry wonderland wrapped in shimmery frost and the sky was blue.  A beautiful day.

On arrival, we realised Freddy had just dropped off.  We expected the cold air would wake him up when we popped him in his Graco Symbio.  However, once in the comfy, moulded seat, with his fleece lined foot muff toggled up to his chin, the lure of sleep was too great.

So, with a slumbering baby we made our way into the garden centre.  I love the effort they make to show their wonderful range of gifts, food and decorations in such eye catching displays.

However, the comfortable seating of the Symbio was just too comfy!  Freddy slept on!

In the nativity scene, the donkey seemed very interested in the Symbio with the sleeping Santa Baby inside!  Meanwhile Fred snoozed some more!

Even the big guy himself wasn't enough to wake up my little boy.  His peaceful slumber was uninterrupted.

Not even Frosty the Snowman with his festive tune blaring, could disturb Fred from his dozing!

We left to go back to the carpark.  We enjoyed looking with wide eyed wonderment at the displays and would have loved to have seen Freddy's delight too!  But, sleep in such a vital part of a toddler's day, that his uninterrupted restful slumber was worth its wait in gold!  The Symbio is the comfiest pushchair I've ever owned, and the seating position lends itself perfectly to napping on the go.  So even if our best laid plans didn't quite turn out how we expected, Fred had a lovely kip!!
