The Quinny Yezz at Disneyland

The Quinny Yezz was the perfect stroller for Disneyland Paris with a toddler...compact for packing in the car, lightweight for carrying up and down stairs, manoeuvrable in crowds, easy to carry with the shoulder strap  when not in use and freestanding when folded for leaving in Buggy Parks.  The handy pocket is really spacious for snacks, drinks and waterproofs, and the seat is comfy enough for a nap when the magic of Disney gets too much!!

Quinny Yezz Doing What It Does Best!

As a Quinny Caster I've been challenged to show the Yezz doing what it does best!!  It's the urban stroller designed to make the city its playground, perfect for public transport and the rigours of being in town with a toddler.  Unfortunately as far as this mission is concerned, I live in the country and the public transport links are worse than useless so to demonstrate the features and benefits of Quinny's funky Yezz we had to get creative.

The incredibly lightweight Yezz is small and compact when folded and comes with a strap to carry it over your shoulder.  Perfect for going up and down stairs and escalators and hopping on and off trains and buses.  Ian demonstrated this on our staircase!

The size of the folded stroller is perfect if you are sat on a seat of a train, bus or taxi.  It will sit easily between your feet meaning you don't have to struggle with stowing the Yezz in a storage facility.  Ian demonstrates on our makeshift bus seat!!

When you are in the city, you have to put your stroller up and down a lot as you reach escalators, stairs or get on or off the vehicle.  The Yezz can be put up with one hand and one foot really quickly and easily.  You could hold on to a toddler's hand or carry an infant with your other hand.  Very useful when travelling alone with your child.

City life can mean tight spaces and narrow gaps.  The Yezz's super manoeuvrability and compact design makes negotiating a busy, crowded area really easy.  Doorways, aisles, corridors and other tight squeezes are easily handled.  Check out Ian going through a doorway with bags of space to spare.

The free standing feature is useful and would allow you to leave the pushchair stood up and keep your hands free.

The Yezz's lightweight frame makes this the lightest stroller to carry around, a real bonus when using a buggy in the busy city.  A cumbersome, heavy, complicated pushchair would be a hindrance, whereas the Yezz would be a real help in that situation.  You can see just how light this stroller is in this photo.

Although I did not test the Yezz in the city for this mission, I am soon to take Freddy to Alton Towers.  The Yezz will be perfect to ride the mono-rail, leave standing in Buggy Parks near the rides, negotiate the crowds and carry over our shoulder when Freddy decides he wants to have a run around.  We are also going to Disneyland Paris in a few weeks time and will be taking the Yezz.  It will take up hardly any boot space and again will be perfect in a theme park situation.  I'll definitely post some pics!!

The Yezz may not be perfect for all terrains and situations, but for urban life it can definitely reduce many of the problems associated with using a pushchair.  Plus, it's very comfy for your tot to travel in.  It's a great investment for a non-city dweller like me, as a second stroller for travelling, urban use and on holiday.

Quinny Yezz Review

Ian, Freddy and I took the Yezz for a test drive to Telford Shopping Centre for a mooch around the sales.  It is the ultimate urban pushchair making the city your playground, so we were interested to see how it coped with a shopping trip.
Takes up hardly any boot space!
Easy to push
Pros:
  • Incredibly light weight but extremely sturdy
  • So easy to steer even with one hand.  It feels almost weightless even with a toddler onboard!
  • Comfy for your toddler
  • Tight turning circle allowing extreme smooth manoeuvrability
  • Easy to fold and carry over your shoulder with the strap leaving two hands free
  • Takes up minimum boot space or storage space
  • Handy pocket for storing a few essentials
  • Good braking system...one pedal turns brake on, one turns it off
  • Perfect for negotiating crowded shops
  • Really funky design that Ian was happy to push.  In Road Grey with the skate style wheels and climbing rope attachments it made a great, sporty pushchair that appeals to men too
  • Free standing when folded
Light enough to steer with just one finger!!!
Cons:
  • Tips up easily when not counterbalanced by having baby in it if you hang a large handled bag right over the handles (I did try to see if it would work!)
  • No suspension, skate wheels and low centre of gravity makes you feel every bump in the road (although Fred enjoyed this and giggled!)
  • Nowhere to hang bags on handles
  • No storage underneath for shopping
  • Not suitable for rough terrain
  • Does not recline
With nowhere to put the bags, it's good that it is so light to push and steer.
So, depending on your needs, the Yezz will either be the perfect choice or not suitable at all.

For pushing around a shopping centre, dodging obstacles and people, going up and down the aisles and carrying up and downstairs this buggy is second to none.  It literally is so light to steer and feels virtually weightless as you push it along, even if it is with just one hand.  However as there is nowhere to hang or store bags, you need to be prepared to carry them...or get someone else to carry them for you!

The pros of this buggy would work perfectly for an airport, railway station or port.  It is ideal for holidaying with a toddler.  It is so light and folds so small it would be a real asset when travelling with a little one.  The easy fold up and down method is very quick, and because of it being so lightweight and having the shoulder carry strap, it is easy to manage with a tot in tow!

Smooth Ride
If you do your majority of walking in the great outdoors this is not the buggy for you.  The Quinny Speedi is the better choice for heavy use.  However, for urban use, shopping centres, smooth pavements, public transport etc. the Yezz will prove a Godsend.

The Quinny Yezz...Our First Thoughts

I must admit that I was not convinced by the idea of the Quinny Yezz prior to receiving it.  I had visions of a flimsy buggy that was all gimmick and no substance.  How wrong I was!  I should have had more faith in Quinny's vision of an urban pushchair that promises to turn the city into a playground.  Its simplicity is genius!  From the fabric seat unit to the glass fibre frame to the skate style wheels, every component works towards creating an ultra light weight, efficient, extremely manoeuvrable and fun mode of toddler transport.

The choice of colours is impressive, and my Road Grey selection did not disappoint me.  It is very smart, utilitarian and stylish, but if you like your pushchair to reflect a sunnier disposition how about Yellow Move or Pink Hybrid?

Putting the Yezz together was very simple.  The three wheeled frame went up easily and the all in one fabric seat unit attached using plasticised rope rings.  It was very straightforward to do, but required a bit of strength.  Once done the Yezz feels really sturdy and well made.

The Yezz is a good size.  The handles are great for myself at 5' 11", no stooping required for once!  The seat unit is wide, comfortable and spacious.  It does not recline, but the give in the fabric seems to provide a cocooned support which Freddy really enjoyed.

The buggy has no basket underneath but there is a good sized pocket on the seat back that would fit a purse, mobile phone, keys, a drink and snack.  And a wide handled bag could be put over the handle unit if necessary.

The Yezz is unbelievably manoeuvrable.  It can be spun through 360 degrees in the tightest of spaces.  Yet it still feels very stable and sturdy.  My husband has enjoyed testing out its capability and is very impressed with this aspect of the Yezz.  He thought the design was excellent from a practical point of view.  Even with Freddy's weight in it, the buggy moves smoothly with the lightest of steering.  The braking system is foot operated, press the brake on one wheel to lock the wheels, the other releases the brake.  Simple and efficient.

This is the lightest buggy I have ever had.  It is just 5kg in weight, yet the stability is not compromised.  An integral shoulder strap means that the folded pushchair can be slung over a shoulder and carried with ease.  Perfect for anyone using public transport.  Also, it is great if you need to carry your baby in the buggy up and down stairs on your travels.

So far, I haven't tested the Yezz outdoors.  I am hoping that the Yezz will be my "days out" buggy.  I can see it being great for theme parks and attractions.  Freddy walks a lot nowadays but when he gets tired enjoys being pushed around and generally takes a nap!  I think having such a light buggy will prove invaluable.  It'll also be great for shopping centres where you have to negotiate tight spaces and stairs.  Carrying the Yezz + Fred is a breeze!  The only problem is that there is nowhere to hang bags or put shopping.  My husband will once again become my shopping pack horse!!  The Yezz will take up minimal boot space, which is a positive when hitting the shops.

It doesn't come with a raincover as standard, but the hood is a good size.

Priced at £175 this is a unique, stylish answer to any city mum's baby transport problems.  It is a solution for anyone looking for an ultra-light, ultra stylish pushchair.  It is suitable for babies aged 6 months and over.  Freddy is at the top end of the weight limit and I've been impressed that he has so much space and comfort when he is in the buggy.

So far, so good for the Yezz!

I'm a Quinny Caster In Waiting!

I am very honoured to be taking part as a Quinny Caster this year and I am being sent a brand spanking new Quinny Yezz to test out with Freddy!  This ultra lightweight, smart and compact buggy has revolutionised urban transport for toddlers, with free-rolling skate style wheels,  IXEF composite glass fibre frame and parachute style fabric seat.  It can be thrown over your shoulder to carry making it perfect for making the city your playground.

I'll be testing the Yezz in a rural environment which will be pushing it to the limit!  I'll be able to see how it copes with Shropshire's streets, but will also be seeing how it gets on in Shopping Centres (a regular haunt of mine)!  You can be sure of a thorough testing!

I am just waiting for it to arrive now, as my holiday over Christmas has delayed my delivery.  The Road Grey Yezz will hopefully come any day now so I can get testing our newest addition to our pushchair family.  Shropshire won't know what has hit it when the Yezz comes to town!
