Watch Sky Movies and Sky Sports for less with TalkTalk

From this October, TalkTalk TV homes can watch Sky Sports and Sky Movies for better than half price* at just £20 a month, for three months.  This will give families access to exciting blockbuster films and more of the Barclays Premier League matches that matter, right through the festive season. This should keep the whole family happy and entertained, whether they are sports fans or film buffs.

Thi pecial offer gives homes access to Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 and 4, F1 and Sky Sports 5, home of European football. This brings live coverage of the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League Football, Formula One and Rugby Union into your home. Customers can also enjoy 11 Sky Movies Channels, including Sky Disney and Sky Superheroes a well as having access to hundreds of blockbuster movies on demand.  Perfect for a family film night or a cosy romantic movie for two.

TalkTalk's better than half price Boost allows cash conscious customers the chance to try these premium channels for three whole months at a bargain price,  After that, customers can dip in and out of the channels they love from month to month without any ongoing commitment. It's TV you will be glued to and not stuck with!

This offer builds on the recent deal between Sky and TalkTalk bringing the best of Sky entertainment to TalkTalk’s TV customers. Earlier this year, TalkTalk added seven Sky channels, including Sky One, Sky Living, Sky Sports News HQ and 100s of hours of on demand Sky entertainment content, to its Plus TV package.  In addition to the Sky packages, TalkTalk homes can add Boosts for hit US and UK entertainment and favourite kids channels and on demand content to their package at the touch of a button.  You can create your perfect package from one month to the next.

TalkTalk’s Essentials TV is half price for six months at £4.25, then £8.50, plus line rental. And Plus TV is just £9.25 a month for six months, then £18.50 a month, plus line rental. TalkTalk’s Plus TV package includes seven great Sky entertainment channels and a free YouView box, usually £299.

*TalkTalk has combined Sky Movies and Sky Sports Boosts saving homes up to £25 a month. Usually TalkTalk homes can access Sky Sports Boost for £30 a month and its Sky Movie Boost for £15 a month, on a month by month basis with no ongoing commitment. 

New TV Player from TalkTalk

TalkTalk’s YouView customers are about to get more movies and on demand entertainment with their all-new TV player.  It is set to bring even more of the latest movies, hit shows and better functionality to homes with YouView TV.  Viewers can control the budget and only watch what they want to watch, with clear pricing.

From the TalkTalk TV Player you can access on-demand movies and entertainment from TalkTalk Box Office. It now includes more of the latest blockbusters to rent from £4.00 for 48hrs from the comfort of your sofa. New movies are added every week and latest hits currently available include Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Wolf of Wall Street. So, there is always something you can watch on demand and enjoy a night in with a good movie.

TalkTalk has also made it easier to discover all the channels and movies included in their package, with a new ‘Included Channels’ feature. You can browse the entire library of over 500 movies and hundreds of hours of on demand programmes, safe in the knowledge that all prices are clearly marked and no payment will be taken until the TalkTalk pin number is entered.  There is no danger of the kids accidentally ordering something when playing with the remote!  

Other useful new features include:

These features make the whole experience more user friendly and efficient, and lets you get the most out of your TV time.

TalkTalk have been making lots of improvements to the YouView service, including adding seven new Sky channels to the line up, so YouView customers get to enjoy all the shows on Sky 1 and Sky Living. Plus pre-school favourites Wallace and Gromit and Timmy Time have just been added to the kids' TV line-up. The TalkTalk Player is faster, smarter and makes finding what you want easier.

The service will be available to all one million plus TalkTalk TV homes by 17 June.

To access the new TalkTalk Player, connect the YouView box to the router and leave it 'on' or on ‘standby’. Once connected customers can press the ‘TalkTalk’ button on the remote control to start enjoying the service.

TalkTalk Box Office - Epic Film Review

TalkTalk have treated us as Family Ambassadors to a family film night to watch Epic on demand through our YouView box.  This full length animated adventure features the voice talents of Colin Farrell, Steve Tyler, Amanda Seyfried and Beyonce and is based on a book by William Joyce "The Leafmen and the Brave Good Bugs".

Buying the film on demand was easy and secure.  You simply click through to the film where you can choose to watch the HD version for £4.50 or the SD version for £3.50.  Payment is done through your four digit pin number.  The film started immediately with no buffering so we could view it instantly.  You can watch the movie over 48 hours from purchase. It really is a simple and efficient process and a cost effective way of enjoying a new family film.

The film itself is beautifully animated, featuring the adventures of 17 year old M.K. who is the daughter of an eccentric scientist, obsessed with proving the existence of a race of tiny, advanced people living in the forest. M.K. finds herself unexpectedly and magically at the heart of the civilisation that her father has dedicated his life to finding. She discovers the Leafmen, guardians and protectors of the forest lead by Ronin (voiced by Farrell with his lovely lilting Irish accent).  They are embroiled in a battle against the evil Boggan led by the sinister Mandrake who is intent on destruction.

Befriended by young maverick and love interest Nod and mollusc comedy duo Mub and Grub, M.K. embarks on a perilous journey to help save the forest and return to her home. Her success depends in part on convincing her eccentric and disillusioned dad that he is not insane and his discredited, lifetime's work is in fact correct.

The film is a lot like Avatar for kids!  The Leafmen ride on saddled up hummingbirds and take on Mandrake (who just happens to be Na'Vi blue) who rides on his crow, shooting them with his bow and arrows. Some scenes are quite scary and the Boggan are really quite sinister.  So little ones might find it a little frightening. The storyline is also quite complex and more appropriate for slightly older kids, but little ones will love the visual humour and funny moments.

What the family thought:

Kizzy said:  "I though Epic was very interesting.  I liked the characters, in particular Nod who was adventurous and super cool.  The concept was really good.  It was a good idea to have the little characters that live in the forest and saving the pod which would make the new queen was an exciting idea.  It was funny.  Mub and Grub gave lots of laughs to the story."

Freddy:  "I like the slugs when they popped their eyes out!"

Ian:  "I love the playful characters who acted as an antidote and light relief to the more serious elements of the film.  It was these that appealed to Freddy."

Overall, we enjoyed watching Epic on TalkTalk Box Office.  It is a convenient way to instantly watch the latest film releases in the comfort of your own home, with the added bonus of having 48 hours of view time.

Kizzy talks about the Talk Talk YouView Kids' Boost

We are trialing Talk Talk's services over the coming year, to see how their telephone, broadband and TV packages fit in with our family life.  We will be posting a series of reviews to share our experience of Talk Talk's products.  Our first challenge is to review the Talk Talk YouView Kids' Boost.  Boosts are purchased on a month to month basis, adding extra channels to the basic YouView package.
