Learn To Count With LEGO DUPLO

When my first son Joe was born 25 tears ago, I discovered the wonderful world of LEGO DUPLO.  I bought him different sets and tubs of bricks over the years, to make a wonderful collection that he loved playing with.  When his three sisters and his little brother Freddy came along, they too enjoyed playing with the colourful Duplo building blocks, animals and vehicles.  A quarter of a century later, the original pieces are still being played with alongside many new additions which have been added to the mix.  LEGO DUPLO is just so timeless, durable and loved by little ones.  It is a brand that we love here Inside the Wendy House.

When Netmums were looking for reviewers for the LEGO DUPLO Learn To Count Train, I was delighted to be chosen.  The multi-coloured train set comes with numbered bricks to help children with number recognition and learning to count.  Learning through play is the best way for little ones to grasp concepts, such as counting, shapes and colours, while they are having fun.  This toy from LEGO DUPLO is perfect for this, plus it helps develop creativity, fine motor skills, role play and problem solving.

The train comes loosely packaged in a recyclable cardboard box with no excessive plastic to contend with, which is something that I really appreciate.  The contents are clearly illustrated on the side of the box, and photographs of the train and other ideas for using the set, give inspiration for play.  A scale picture of one of the numbered bricks alongside a LEGO DUPLO man, illustrates the size of the pieces, which are perfect for little hands to hold.  It is for children aged between 2 and 5.

As soon as he saw the box, 3 1/2 year old Freddy began to point to the colourful number pieces on the front of the box and count along from one to ten.  He was very proud of himself and couldn't wait to start playing!

After tipping the contents of the box onto the floor, Freddy sorted out all the number pieces naming the colours, shapes and numbers as he did so.  Big sister Ella helped him build the train and then Freddy put the numbers onto the carriages in order and added the other bricks to make his very own Number Train.

Duplo

It was a delight to see him build towers, count bricks, name colours and shapes, explore different ways to put the bricks together, role play imaginatively with the train and the driver, whizz the train around the floor and generally have a whole lot of fun!   The colours are bright and appealing and the design of the train is perfect for little ones.

I love that this LEGO DUPLO Number Train will integrate into the collection I have built up ever since buying my first piece for my first son back in 1988, and I love that we can continue to grow our collection for the grandchildren!  LEGO DUPLO is in my opinion, one of the best toys you can buy for your children.  There is so much variety to appeal to children whatever their tastes.  It grows with them and can be added to, inspiring play and learning for years to come.  The Number Train with its inclusion of numbered bricks makes a great basis for learning early number skills and allows parents and older siblings to interact and get involved through play.

Just take a look at these photos of Freddy playing with his Number Train to see how much fun he had.  I'd definitely recommend the LEGO DUPLO brand to anyone looking for toys to keep their pre-schoolers happy, enabling them to build their own new adventures everyday!

Fun with Jungle Junction

Jungle Junction is a huge hit with us here Inside the Wendy House.  The Disney Junior BAFTA nominated TV show stars animals who live in the jungle with "wheels instead of feet"!  I was very excited when Flair created a range of toys based on the show.  I saw the Jungle Playset at Christmas in July  and loved it.  I was even more excited when I was sent the Jungle Junction Hippobus and Beetle Bugs Play Set and the Wheel Around Fun Set to review with my Tiny Testers Freddy and Kizzy.

The Jungle Junction Play Set at Christmas in July.
The play sets bring to life the fun of Jungle Junction for children to enjoy in their own home.  Pre-Schoolers can re-enact the fast moving adventures from the jungle with the familiar characters from their favourite TV show.

The Hippobus is a big yellow, smiley school bus who takes the Beetle Bugs safely to school.  The Play Set comes complete with five colourful beetle bugs plus stop and go signs to see them safely across the road!  The Hippobus has working sounds, just press his ear and the bus erupts into the giggles of the Beetle Bugs, their boinging sounds or the bus horn beeping.  The side of the bus opens up to reveal rows of colour coded seats for the bugs which encourages early colour recognition and a slide.  The bus is robust and beautifully made.  It comes complete with batteries so it is ready to be played with!  All the accessories store neatly inside when not in use.  A cardboard jungle scenery play mat and stickers are included.

The set was the perfect size for Freddy's little hands and he loved whizzing the bugs down the slide and wheeling Elebus along.

The Wheel Around Fun Set features Ellyvan, Bungo and Scooter who can zoom around their own cardboard play mat.  The set includes road signs and stickers to add to the fun!  The individual characters can be wheeled along the road in their own adventures.

The sets can be added to with free wheeling figures that come individually or in duo packs.

The Jungle Junction toys are fun, colourful, well made and will provide hours of fun for Disney Junior fans.

The Jungle Play Set RRP £39.99
Hippobus and Beetle Bugs Play Set £19.99
Wheel Around Fun Set £9.99
Jungle Junction Figures £3.99 - £6.99

Pop Goes Froggio Review

We enjoy playing family games Inside the Wendy House, so when Mummy News offered us the chance to review Pop Goes Froggio, the "fast matching, frog catching game" by Hasbro, we were only too pleased!
It is a pre-school game for 2-4 players ages 3+.

The game consists of a cute little frog character who is launched into the air when you step on the pump attached to his lily pad.

Ten lily pad cards featuring animals are scattered around.  A butterfly spinner is spun and whatever animal it lands on, is the card that needs to be uncovered by the eager players.  Whoever finds the matching card gets to launch Froggio from his lily pad.  If you catch him, you keep the card.

Freddy is 2, so too young to understand the rules of the game.  However, he loved launching the frog and laughed excitedly whenever Froggio flew into the air!  Big sister Kizzy helped him to play the game and loved every minute of it!

I loved the quality of the game.  It is well made and very robust.  The Froggio character is lovely.  The game is very simple to play and can be enjoyed on many levels.  Kizzy loved the challenge of launching and catching the frog, and enjoyed the memory aspect of finding the matching cards.  Freddy loved being a part of the game and quickly learned how to launch Froggio, taking great delight in doing so.  The laughter that this game created makes me give Pop Goes Froggio a big 10/10!!

Pop Goes Froggio is available from Toys R Us for £15.99.
