Lacura Sun Care Range - save money without compromising on quality

The summer holidays are here at last!  We are really hoping that the sun makes some appearances over the next six weeks, especially as Aldi has invited us to join their unofficial ‘Lacura Sunseeker’s Panel’. Aldi have sent us a selection of their Lacura suncare products to see us through the whole summer and we will be sharing our experiences on social media.

Lacura has a variety of sun care products that will ensure you can enjoy your summer, safely. The Lacura brand means top quality products at great value prices, with the Lacura SPF 30 sun spray recently being revealed as the lowest costing sunspray to pass the Which? SPF testing. When it comes to protecting the kids' skin, I don't want to compromise on quality, so knowing this is really reassuring. I can save money but be confident that the range is safe and reliable.

With a selection of creams and sprays suitable for a range of ages and skin types, there is something for every family member. The range includes:

•             Lacura SPF 30 Spray 200ml - £2.79
•             Lacura SPF15 Spray 200ml - £2.79
•             Lacura SPF15 Oil Spray 150ml - £2.99
•             Lacura SPF 30 Lotion  200ml  - £2.79
•             Lacura SPF 15 Lotion 200ml - £2.79
•             Lacura SPF30 Kids Sun Spray 200ml - £2.99

•             Lacura Kids water resistant SPF50 Lotion 150ml - £2.79
•             Lacura SPF 50+ Kids Spray 200ml - £2.99
•             Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion kids/adults 200ml - £2.79
•             Lacura Aftersun Spray 200ml - £1.99

As you can see by the prices, these are a fraction of the cost of high end branded sun creams and sprays, but yet the sun spray passed the Which? testing, letting you buy with complete confidence. The savings made can go towards treating the family during the summer holidays.  Now all I need is some lovely sunshine and I can get testing these products and sharing my thoughts!

SunSense - Stay Safe in the Sun and sign up to the Sun Sensible 2014 Campaign

When the sun shines, it is so important to protect the family's skin from the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays.  SunSense have a range of products that provide protection to keep even the most delicate skins sun safe.  We received some to try out.

sun lotion, sun protection

SunSense™ Ultra

A light, smooth, easy-to-apply lotion for the whole family, providing SPF 50+ protection with 4 hours water resistance.
  • SPF 50+, UVA and UVB broad spectrum protection
  • Available in 500ml pump, 125ml bottle and a handy 50ml roll-on, ideal for school bags

SunSense™ Toddler Milk

An easy-to- apply milk formulation especially designed for the delicate skin of infants and children. It provides SPF 50 broad spectrum protection, yet contains lower levels of substances which may irritate your child’s sensitive skin.
  • SPF 50, UVA and UVB broad spectrum protection
  • Water-resistant for 40 minutes
  • Available in a 125ml bottle and a handy 50ml roll-on, ideal for school bags
Both products are easy to apply and rub in well.  They are not fragranced.

SunSense™ Lip Balm

This New Formulation helps protect, soothe and moisturise dry, chapped lips in all seasons, with added Vitamin E.
  • SPF 50+, UVA and UVB broad spectrum
  • Glide-on applicator makes for easy application
  • Protects, soothes, moisturises
  • Soft and gentle to apply

The lip balm feels very moisturising and is pleasant to use. It comes in a small tube and you apply it directly using the glide on applicator.  It's handy to keep in your bag or pocket to keep your lips protected all year round.

All these products are great for use at home, school or on holiday. In the summer months, we should all encourage our children to apply a long lasting sun protection lotion daily before school, even on cloudy days. My children's schools all encourage the kids to use sun protection and wear caps to keep them safe at school.

We should all remember to re-apply sun lotion regularly (3-4 hourly) and after contact with water.

Kids Can Win a Surf Shack Sun Shelter for their School with SunSense!

SunSense have launched a national campaign across the country, Sun Sensible 2014, challenging school pupils to put their creativity to the test in order to win a cool surf shack sun shelter for their playground plus SunSense products for the whole class. This will help keep them all sun safe!

Pupils simply need to design a surfboard with a sun theme on the website: www.sunsense.co.uk.  You can register your child's school's interest and download templates by clicking the image below.  Competition ends 11th July 2014.

Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Review

For the past few days I have felt the wonderful feeling of sunshine on my skin.  The kids have come out of school, pink cheeked with their sweaters tied around their waists, clutching letters telling parents to remember to apply sun tan lotion and to send in a cap for play time..  Signs of better weather on its way at last!

So I was delighted when I received a perfectly timed gift from Nivea Sun, making us well and truly prepared for any heatwave that we are lucky enough to experience.  I was sent a gorgeous personalised polka dot bag containing a selection of their new Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh range.

The Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh range combines immediate protection with an innovative cooling effect due to the addition of menthol.  Rather than covering your skin with heavy creams or sticky oils, Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh lets you use a light and refreshing product, which makes your skin feel fresh and cool.  Just what you need on a hot summer's day.

The Protect and Refresh Refreshing Sun Lotion is priced from £15.00 for a 200 ml bottle.  It boasts a non-sticky, ultra-moisturising consistency, containing a balanced combination of silky powder and soothing oils.  It is water resistant with UVA/UVB filters for protection.

The Protect and Refresh Invisible Cooling Sun Spray is priced from £14.00 for a 200 ml bottle.  It's light, silky texture and cooling mist makes it lovely to use. It is effective as soon as it's applied and sprays on leaving no oiliness, stickiness or residue. I offers both UVA and UVB protection.

Protect and Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist is priced from £16.00 for a 200 ml bottle.  The light, skin cooling spray mist delivers a fine even layer of protection onto the skin.  The special 360 degree valve allows continuous spraying from all angles, making it great for when on  the go or during outdoor sports.  Beach volleyball anyone??

After enjoying a day out in the sunshine, you can freshen up by using the Nivea Sun In-Shower After Sun Lotion which is £6.00 for a 250 ml bottle. You apply the intensively moisturising lotion on wet skin then rinse off.  It soothes and refreshes the skin and absorbs quickly leaving no greasy residue.

We have been using the Factor 50 Sun Spray on the kids for school.  It is an almost colourless liquid with a very light, gentle fragrance.  The spray has good dispersal and doesn't drip or leak.  It is invisible on the skin and absorbs really fast.  As it is invisible it was a bit tricky to know if we had covered every bit of Freddy's skin, but the dispersal of the product was so good I felt confident that he was well protected.  Overall, I really like this mess free method of sun protection, that leaves no white marks or greasy residue, making it a very wearable form of protection for the whole family.

Now all I need is a proper heatwave and a holiday!
