Postman Pat Special Delivery Service Toys

When I first watched Postman Pat with my eldest children he was just a simple postman with a van and a cat.  Over the years, he has had quite a dramatic professional makeover and now has a host of vehicles at his disposal including a helicopter!

Character Online have a range of Postman Pat vehicles, playsets and action figures which will keep any little Pat fans happy as they re-enact scenes of their favourite Greendale adventures.

Freddy was sent a SDS Helicopter to try out.  The free wheeling vehicle comes with accessories: a harness and a highland cow.  Unfortunately, although it has a space for both Jess and Pat in the cockpit,  it doesn't contain any figures which is disappointing and makes this helicopter less of  a stand alone toy. However, some of the other vehicles do include Pat and he is available to purchase separately, so the helicopter will be a great addition to a Postman Pat toy collection.

Freddy didn't particularly recognise it as a Postman Pat vehicle once it was out of its box, but he was delighted to have a helicopter to play with! He did ask where "the man" was as the helicopter clearly has a seat that is crying out to be sat in.  He improvised in a mixed genre solution and made his Peppa Pig characters take the controls and fly the helicopter instead. Unperturbed by the lack of Pat, he enjoyed 'flying' the vehicle around, rotating the propeller blades and dangling the cow from its harness!

The cow is solid and heavy and was a little difficult to balance in the harness, but is well made and cute.  The helicopter is nicely made and apart from the doors coming off when it was dropped, is quite robust and sturdy.  The free wheeling aspect of the helicopter, the opening rear doors and the spinning propellers add to the play value.  Freddy is really enjoying playing with the helicopter and bar from the lack of Pat, this is a good toy and a great addition to the SDS range.

Priced at £10.99.

Happy Birthday Pat!!

It's been three decades since Postman Pat first graced our screens as the humble postie from Greendale, who was assisted by Jess his black and white cat, as he delivered the mail from his red van.

Over the years Pat has had loads of adventures and now heads up the Special Delivery Service and flies his own helicopter!

To celebrate Pat's 30th birthday,  a wonderful limited edition DVD is due for release on September 12th.  The shiny, metallic slipcase shows Pat and Jess with confetti and balloons...perfect to commemorate the BBC's longest running animated series on its special day!

With over 3 hours of fun, the DVD includes 8 special episodes:
  • Postman Pat's Great Big Party
  • Postman Pat Takes The Bus
  • Postman Pat & The Toy Soilders
  • Postman Pat & The Tuba
  • Postman Pat & The Greendale Rocket
  • Postman Pat & The Barometer
  • Postman Pat Clowns AroundPostman
  • Pat's Pirate Treasure
The Great Big Party episode sees the Greendale residents trying to organise a surprise party for Pat's birthday.  Freddy particularly loved Ted's robot machines!  Poor Pat thinks everybody has forgotten his birthday...but it's all right on the night!  They throw him a party to be proud of until the robots go beserk!

Freddy loved the classic theme tune and danced around happily as we played the DVD for him.  He loved the characters, the simple stories and the music.  It is rapidly becoming one of his favourites to watch!  It was nice to see episodes from across the years...it was very nostalgic, taking me back to when I first watched Postman Pat with my first son 22 years ago!

This DVD is perfect for Pat fans young and old.  It also includes a bonus CD of  great big party songs which'll have Freddy up and dancing for sure!  It's a lovely way to celebrate 30 years of Postman Pat!

You can pre-order the DVD from Amazon.

Post a Birthday Card to Postman Pat for a Special Reply!!

On the 16th of September Postman Pat is turning 30 and in celebration, Character Options are asking children to send Pat a birthday card and if they do they will receive a reply from the man himself!!

For 30 years Postman Pat and his black and white cat Jess have been delighting children around the world.  He has become one of the best loved pre-school characters ever created.  I remember watching Postman Pat with my eldest son Joe who is now almost 23.  I now watch Postman Pat Special Delivery Service with my youngest son Freddy who is 2!!  Things have changed for Pat over the years with his promotion to head of the Special Delivery Service, but he is still the same lovable postie!

To mark this momentous occasion, fans will be able to send birthday cards, messages and drawings for Pat to read.  As a thank you Pat will respond by email to every child throughout September with a personal message.

Simply send your birthday wishes to:

*Be sure to include a valid email address and the child's name.*

Freddy will definitely be joining in to wish Pat a Happy 30th!!

Children can create their own adventures at home with an exciting toy range from Character Options.  Freddy was sent a SDS Van to try out.  It plays the theme tune to Postman Pat SDS which Freddy really loved.  It comes with two parcels which fit into the back of the van.  It is part of a great range of toys featuring Pat along with various vehicles, buildings and friends from Pencaster.  Any fan will love to re-enact their favourite stories from the show.
Look out for lots of Postman Pat excitement to celebrate his three decades of fun and join in with the birthday celebrations!
