Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box

Lucky Gecko is a company that specialises in activity boxes for children aged 8 to 12.  Developed by an experienced personal tutor, the boxes are designed to encourage curiosity, build confidence and let imaginations run wild. They make learning fun and exciting and keep children entertained and inspired.

Lucky Gecko Midwinter Box

The latest box is the Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box, which is jam packed full of things to do, challenging children and helping to keep their minds busy over the festive holidays. Freddy received one of these boxes and was eager to check out the contents. Everything comes well packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and the contents are wrapped in tissue paper, sealed with a Lucky Gecko sticker.

Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box

Freddy was really impressed with the huge array of contents, which included a game, some creative crafts and some fun science based activities to keep him busy over Christmas. Everything you need for the projects is included inside the box including paints and Sharpie markers. The enclosed booklet has full instructions, ideas and information as well as quizzes, puzzles, competitions and challenges. This really is a box filled with things to inspire a child's desire to create, discover, have fun and learn.

Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box

Using the contents children can make their own Christmas placemats, thumbprint gift tags, cool penguin racers and tealight snowmen. They can create and learn about crystallization with a magic tree and also make some magic snow and build a miniature snowman. There is also a game of Time Shock which will test children's spatial awareness and their ability to stay calm under pressure as they race to match shapes into the right holes against the clock. Time Shock is a great game to challenge the whole family this Christmas.

Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box

The book has some excellent information about Christmas including trivia about feasts, traditions and festivals and the history of Santa. There are lots of quiz questions and challenges, which will make for a fun festive family quiz this Christmas. Plus there are some ideas for festive reads and winter writing activities to help bridge the gap between home and school while the kids are on holiday.

Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box

What we loved most about the Midwinter Activity Box from Lucky Gecko is the fact that the whole family can get involved. The Penguin Racers and Magic Snow are things that we can have fun with together, and the Time Shock game is great for family games nights. And any child would be proud to supply the placemats for Christmas dinner or tag a gift with a homemade gift tag.

The quizzes and facts have been enjoyed by us all, I even learned a few new things! I really liked how children are encouraged to develop their leadership and organisational skills to host the family quiz themselves. Freddy enjoyed researching some of the answers to the questions online using the laptop, polishing up his investigative skills before asking us the questions. It's lovely to have the kids in charge of some of the festive activities.

Freddy's big sisters love helping him do arts and crafts activities so the placemat designing, gift tag making and creating of snowman tealights become a team effort. Doing activities like these together is a really bonding experience and Freddy loves it when his older siblings get involved with his stuff.

Boxes come addressed to the child and are really inviting, ready for the contents to be explored. A Parent Pack email is sent to the grown ups, highlighting what's inside the box and giving ideas and advice for follow up activities. The answers to the quiz questions in the booklet are attached for the kids' eyes only, giving them ownership as the quizmasters!

Children are encouraged to enter the competitions and share photographs of what they have made with Lucky Gecko, which gives them recognition for their hard work, giving them a great confidence boost. Children's work can be featured, for example there is a bookmark included in this box designed by a Lucky Gecko winner.

Lucky Gecko Midwinter Activity Box

The standalone Midwinter Activity Box would be a wonderful and thoughtful gift for a child this Christmas, delivered directly to their door. These boxes are limited and ready to ship now for the price of £30 from  www.luckygecko.com.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie

Freddy loves Captain Underpants. His big sister bought him the set of  books for Christmas last year and he has read all of them, some more than once! They are the first books that he has read independently for pleasure and they have even inspired him to draw his own cartoon strips. So Captain Underpants is definitely a family favourite in our house!

When we discovered they were making Captain Underpants into a film we were really excited for the opportunity of seeing Freddy's favourite character come to life on the big screen. And now the DVD and Blu-Ray of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie is going to be available to own on December 4th from Dreamwork's Animation. It is an absolute must-have and will take pride of place in Freddy's film collection.

To celebrate the release of the film, I have received a bespoke pair of festive, fun party pants featuring Captain Underpants himself made by Bags of Love. They'll definitely be my pants of choice this Christmas!

Don't Let Christmas be Pants

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie follows the story of best friends, pranksters and comic book makers George Beard and Harold Hutchins. One day they accidentally hypnotise their grumpy school principal and nemesis Mr Krupp, turning him into the dimwitted, underpants wearing superhero, Captain Underpants.  Life at Jerome Horwitz Elementary School would never be the same again!

Captain Underpants

A new teacher arrives at school and George and Harold soon find out that he is really a disgraced scientist, Professor Pippy Pee Pee Poopypants, with an evil plan to rid the world of laughter and turn the school children into humourless zombies. Together with school swot and tattletail Melvin Sneedly, Professor P. unleashes the Turbo Toilet 2000 on the town. The boys and Captain Underpants have to come together to stop his evil plan.

The film really brings the books alive, capturing the style and essence of the first four titles perfectly. We loved how the comic books, which are such a major part of the series, were incorporated into the movie. Freddy found the film laugh-out-loud funny and thoroughly enjoyed all the visual humour and jokes. The slightly rude, toilet humour is definitely right up my son's street and the joy of Uranus gags never gets old! The romantic interest  with Mr Krupp and Edith the dinner lady was a nice addition that warmed the heart and the strong theme of friendship sends a powerful message of the importance of being a BFF.

The Captain Underpants DVD or Blu-ray will make a great Christmas gift or stocking filler this year, or you can enjoy the movie for a festive family film night. Giggling is guaranteed!

Family Films for Christmas - Swallows and Amazons

Growing up in a time before DVDs, games consoles, big screen TVs, the internet, iPads and smartphones, childhood was far more simple. Days were spent out of doors from the early morning to when the sun went down (only popping home for our dinner). We'd play in the woods, in the field or by the river. Life was more innocent, we had more freedom and we never even thought to question our safety.

Watching the new Swallows and Amazons movie, I found the way that the children enjoyed their freedom very familiar and quite nostalgic. Although it is set four decades before my own childhood, so much of the adventure resonated with my own inner child. Exploring new places, building camps, making fires, playing with bows and arrows and being free to play all day long, are things I remember fondly!

The film is very charming and enchanting, reflecting an innocent era of time gone by. Swallows and Amazons is an adventure set in 1935, based on the classic children's novel by Arthur Ransome. It harks back to a time where imaginations were the only things that kids needed to play.

DVD

While holidaying in the Lake District, the Walker children become embroiled in an exciting and unexpectedly dangerous adventure. To entertain themselves, the four children decide to set sail to an island in the middle of a lake, onboard a boat called the Swallow. Thinking that it is a deserted island, the children claim it as their own and set up camp. However they soon realise that somebody else has been there before. They meet two other children, who captain their own pirate boat, the Amazon, who have already laid claim to the island. This leads to a battle between the Swallows and the Amazons for control and supremacy over the island.

Swallows and Amazons

During their adventure, the children also become embroiled in a mystery surrounding a secretive man who lives on a houseboat on the lake. He is hiding a dark secret that finds the children involved in some drama concerning pre-WWII espionage, which lands them in a very dangerous situation. The children need to come together and use all their cunning and bravery against a common foe.

The film has a great British cast with familiar faces such as Harry Enfield, Kelly MacDonald, Rafe Spall and Jessica Hynes in starring roles. The children are excellent young actors who breathe life into this heartwarming tale with their energy and personalities. The locations are stunning, showcasing the natural beauty of Cumbria, the music is lovely and the cinematography is quite beautiful.

Swallows and Amazons introduces this classic tale to a whole new generation of children. There are no dazzling special effects or CGI, instead you have real life adventure and exciting storytelling. There is some edge of your seat action that made us hold our breath, along with some genuinely funny moments.

Overall, this is a quaint, simple, charming film that captures the essence of the original classic tale. It is a breath of fresh air in our hi-tech existence, which reminds us that there is a whole world of adventure out there to  discover. It is a perfect film that the family can enjoy together this Christmas.

Swallows and Amazons lands on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital download from December 12th 2016 courtesy of STUDIOCANAL.

Lindt Master Chocolatier Collection

As the festive season approaches, Lindt introduces its most stylish gift for Christmas yet, guaranteed to delight even the most discerning chocolate connoisseur. Inspired by the joy of giving during the festive season, the NEW Master Chocolatier Collection is a unique selection of 16 delectable chocolate recipes perfected by the experts at Lindt.
Lindt Master Chocolatier Collection

My favorite type of chocolates are the ones that contain either coffee or nuts, so when I read the tasting card I was very happy to see plenty of nutty pralines and truffles plus two coffee flavoured chocolates - Tiramisu and Coffee Ganache.  A perfect line-up! Lindt also make my all time favourite chocolates Lindor, so I knew I was in for a treat!

These luxurious chocolates are made using only the finest ingredients and from the intense flavour of the velvety rich Coffee Ganache to the temptingly soft and smooth Almond Truffle, each irresistible mouthful delivers a bite-size moment of decadence.  The chocolates look beautiful, especially the Signature Dark Ganache and the Caramel Praline with gold writing enbossed onto their outer shells.  Lovely attention to detail.

Lindt Master Chocolatier Collection

There wasn't one chocolate that I didn't enjoy trying, and my girls agreed that these were a lovely selection of chocolates that were quite simple in their design, but beautifully made and quite delicious.  They are not keen on overly fancy flavourings so this classic selection of pralines, ganaches, creams, truffles and caramels were thoroughly enjoyed!

A joy to give, a delight to receive; the Master Chocolatier Collection is presented in a stylish and contemporary gift box making it the perfect present for loved ones.

The 305g box containing thirty chocolates is £12.99 or there is a smaller 144g box for £6.99.  This is great value for such a large selection of quality chocolates.

Doodlemats - Get the Kids Writing!

If your kids are anything like mine, they love to doodle.  I am forever finding pieces of paper lying around that have been scribbled over or drawn on.  Sometimes my printer ends up empty because little people have pinched the sheets of A4 to doodle on!  So when I heard of Doodlemats, I thought they would be a great idea to keep the kids entertained while keeping the paper in my printer!

Doodlemats are one of the lovely items on the Milly Green website that is filled with products befitting the tagline 'timeless designs for children to treasure'.  It is a large cork backed, wipe clean melamine white board that comes with a dry wipe pen in a pen clip.  The Doodlemats come in twelve imagination inspiring designs from minibeasts to pirates to the jungle to outer space.  The illustrations are quirky and cute with real attention to detail.  Doodlemats come in two sizes, standard and large.

Milly Green

Freddy was sent a Space design Doodlemat in large, which is about A3 size. I loved the design which featured a bright red rocket with some space travelling wild animals in it.   A border of colourful planets goes around the outer edge.  The Doodlemat is 5mm thick and very sturdy (like a heavy duty cork backed placemat) with a high quality finish.

Doodlemat

The white board pen is included and comes with a stick on grip which you can attach to the board.  It writes on the board really well and rubs off cleanly.  The shiny surface comes up really clean with minimum effort and leaves no residue.

Doodlemat

The Doodlemat is an ideal gift for pre-schoolers who are interested in early mark making to new writers who will be keen to practice their letters and numbers to older kids who can use it to help make notes for their homework, practice maths or simply doodle.  The Doodlemat is so much more fun than a plain whiteboard.  The design inspires imagination and the wipe clean surface gives children the freedom to write and draw with no limits. The cork back makes them perfect for using on any surface including little laps, and the tough melamine surface means the Doodlemat could double up as a surface for doing arts and crafts activities.

The small Doodlemats are £10.50 and the large Doodlemats are £16.50, which makes them ideally priced as a thoughtful Christmas present for children or grandchildren.

Find out more about Doodlemats on the Milly Green website.

Pacific Rim Film Review

If you are a fan of giant monsters fighting giant robots in a sci-fi blockbuster (imagine Godzilla fighting a Transformer) then Pacific Rim is definitely the film for you!  When alien/reptilian creatures, the Kaiju, rise from a portal in the ocean and attack the world, the human race fights back using huge robots called Jaegars which are controlled by pilots who merge their minds with the machines in the 'drift'.  The pilots are heralded as heroes as they battle the monsters in the ultimate war, but the Kaiju are just too powerful and relentless an enemy.

With the humans heading for defeat, the future of the world lies in the hands of a disillusioned ex-pilot Charlie who is brought back to his role following the death of his brother, and a young female trainee Mori who lost her parents to the Kaiju as a child.

Pacific Rim

But it's not all just impressive fight scenes (although 80% of the film really is given over to the amazing special effects of Kaiju vs Jaegar). The backflash scene of Mori's childhood was actually really moving and well done, as it unlocks the relationship between her and the commander played by Idris Elba.  Comic relief is provided by a pair of nerdy scientists (one of whom is Torchwood's Burn Gorman) who play it for laughs as they attempt to connect with the Kaiju in the drift.

But the real beauty of this film is the thrill ride that is the raging war of monster against man with its mind blowing action scenes and seamless special effects.  It is edge of your seat stuff that transports you to the excitement of the epic monster movies from your childhood.  Pure escapism!

The sound and picture quality of the Blu-Ray is amazing and packs a real punch!  Guillermo del Toro directs this film with passion, flair and a sense of humour, appealing to the wide eyed child inside us all.

We really enjoyed it...all 131 minutes of action and excitement.  It's a big, loud film that you can't help but enjoy. Forget realism, forget complex plotlines and forget Oscar winning acting.  Just immerse yourself into the action and let the battle commence.

Pacific Rim is out on November 11th and is available from Amazon and other good DVD/Blu-ray stockists.

A great Christmas present for the sci-fi fan in your life!!

We received a disc to review for this post.

Gummy Bear Stars in his First Movie!

The Gummy Bear song is one of those catchy tunes that you can't get out of your head.  My 3 year old loves the song so when we received The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa DVD from Lionsgate, I anticipated that it would be a real winner (especially as we also received a super cool Jelly Mould with it which Freddy loved!)

Gummibar, Christmas

This is the first time that internet sensation Gummy Bear has starred in a film and it is a non-stop dose of colourful, zany festive fun featuring plenty of laughs, music and dancing.

The story features Gummy Bear on a mission to find Santa and save Christmas for all the children in the world.  Assisted by his equally whacky and quirky friends Vam Piro, Kala and Harry, they head to the North Pole in a madcap search of Santa.  On their adventures they meet a strange dance-crazed alien which adds to their problems!  It's all a bit bonkers...Gummy is a Y-Front wearing, dummy sucking, green bear!  But this craziness held Freddy utterly captivated and he has watched it over and over. The film is filled with songs and dancing. Fred can now sing a lot of the songs (which are very Euro-pop influenced and are very catchy).  It makes him giggle (especially the bit with the alien on the dance mat!!)  and anything that makes the kids happy gets a thumbs up from me!

Gummy Bear, DVD

Music videos are included in the DVD extras so you can sing and dance to I am a Gummy Bear whenever the mood takes you!

Gummy Bear has also influenced us in a culinary way as we made our own lime green Gummy Bear jelly using the mould that we were sent.  Freddy loved making the jelly and filling the mould.  Unfortunately in his eagerness to see if the jelly was set, he dropped it upside down on the kitchen floor.  We scooped it up and put it back into the mould, but the slightly gritty, under set jelly was never quite the same again!!  But, much like this Gummy Bear film, it made us laugh!!

Gummy Bear

Gummy Bear's all singing and dancing film: The Yummy Gummy Search For Santa is currently on sale at Amazon for just £6.00.  It'll make a great stocking filler for young children and bring plenty of slightly crazy Christmas cheer to the festive season.

Just Dance - Disney Party

My children love dance games and they also love Disney, so the release of Just Dance - Disney Party from Ubisoft on the Wii is the perfect combination for them.  Featuring songs from much beloved Disney movies and from favourite Disney Channel TV shows, the whole family can dance along together.  We were sent a copy to try out.

Wii, Disney, XBox

The kid-friendly gameplay is suitable for even the youngest child, and Freddy who is 3 absolutely loved dancing to the familiar songs.  The talented youngsters on screen lead the way, as players copy their moves to score points.  The choreography is fun and the backgrounds taken from the shows or films are colourful and appealing.

Key Features

  • 25 songs including hits from Disney Channel’s hottest shows and songs from beloved Disney Movie Classics.
    • Enjoy songs from the most popular Disney Channel shows: Shake It Up, Hannah Montana, A.N.T. Farm, Jessie, Wizards of Waverly Place, Camp Rock, Phineas and Ferb, High School Musical and Good Luck Charlie.
    • And hits from the Disney Movie classics that the whole family know and love: Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Tangled, Aristocats, Mary Poppins, Lilo & Stitch, Tinker Bell, Enchanted, The Muppets and Bolt.
  • Brand new choreographies including all new duets.
  • Disney universe brought to life with immersive visual effects and environments from the TV shows and movies while you are dancing.
  • Family Fun and Party Fun
  • Parents Corner

We love the selection of songs as it features some theme tunes from current favourite shows like Good Luck Charlie, as well as some good old classics such as The Bear Necessities and Everybody Wants To Be A Cat.  Having the Disney backgrounds to the dances is a really nice feature, immersing my little dancers into the wonderful world of Disney! It's such a familiar and comforting theme making the children instantly drawn to the game.

The choreography is not too complicated and is always full of fun moves that the kids love doing.  I really like the lyrics appearing onscreen allowing a sing-a-long element to the game in addition to the dancing.  My only reservation is that I'm not sure if I particularly like the onscreen, dancing real life children as much as the computer generated avatars in the adult versions of Just Dance games, but they are very smiley and friendly looking, and Freddy liked them and could relate to them.

There is a parental section where you can custom playlists, monitor usage and even set up a non-stop shuffle mode to keep the kids dancing without having to keep manually picking tracks for them.  It's a very useful tool if you want your little ones kept occupied for a while to let you get on with something uninterrupted!  It's great to get the little ones up and active and having fun.

wii, xbox, Disney

The game, which has a PEGI of 3, is available now on Wii and XBox 360 Kinect at stockists such as Amazon and Play.  It will be a great Christmas gift for the little ones and will allow the whole family to indulge in some after-dinner Disney dancing!  A perfect way to wear off the Christmas Pud!!

Matchbox Big Boots - Ready To Launch

Freddy has completed his first full week at his new nursery after a very shaky start at his previous setting.  He definitely deserves a treat for being such a good, brave and grown-up boy, so when I was sent a Matchbox Big Boots Blaze Brigade Fire Truck from Mattel to review, I couldn't think of a more perfect reward!

I am more familiar with Matchbox making die-cast cars so I was surprised to see the Big Boots Fire Truck when it arrived.  It is  a big, chunky plastic vehicle with a crew of three fireman, Capt. Lazer, Zelix and Spraymond who have huge big booted feet!  We also received a blister pack containing three extra Blaze Buster figures-Max Charge, Firebolt and Vakkor.

Matchbox, Mattel

Freddy was instantly drawn to the truck and explored all the features enthusiastically.  He loved launching the fire crew from the top of the ladder by pressing a big button on the side of the truck.  He equally loved the detachable hose on top that fires out a blue plastic 'arrow' of water.  The front of the truck pulls down allowing two of the crew to drive.  The bumper on the back pulls out catapulting the crew stood on the sides of the truck and when it is pushed in the front falls down and catapults out the drivers.  It is chaotic action-packed fun on wheels.

The Blaze Crew are ready to launch into action whenever there is an emergency!  Freddy really loves all the  ways you can make the crew fly off of the vehicle.  He is in his element having toys flying around him and shooting the hose/gun.  Thankfully it is really robust and is built to take some heavy play!

The crew consist of funny little characters with a rubbery body and huge solid plastic feet.  The big weighted feet mean that even though they wobble they don't fall over making them perfect for all the catapulting and launching that takes place from the truck.  The bottom heavy design makes them really stable so they always land on their feet and means they stay put on the truck even as the vehicle is whizzed along.  Each fireman is differently designed and comes with accessories that can be held in their rubber hands.  As well as the fire fighters, two of the characters are an ice and a fire creature to add to the play value.  Freddy liked making them the 'baddies' to incorporate a bit of a battle into his imaginative play.  He is so gender stereotypical when it comes to playing with toys (although he steadfastedly maintains his penchant for nail varnish, dresses and hairbands!!)

Matchbox also produce other vehicles with brave big footed crews for lots of other adventures!  It is a really imaginative range of toys that will provide hours of play as kids act out fire and rescue and other emergency situations with the big footed characters.

Meet Fudgy Bear!

Meet Fudgy Bear!  He is the latest addition to Freddy's family of cuddly friends.  He is soft, cuddly and very lovable.  Fudgy first came to life when his creator Sarah wrote a book for her little boy about a teddy bear and his trip to a farm. From here the idea grew and a whole series of Fudgy Bear books were written and Fudgy Bear himself was created.  He was made with love, care and attention and it shows.

Fudgy is made of the finest plush, with soft shaggy fur.  He really is cuddly and snuggly, you just have to give him a hug.  He is 32cm tall and made with real attention to detail.  His bright stud eyes and hand embroidered features give him the friendliest face.  His printed bow makes him look super smart!

His claws on his paws are hand stitched  into the softest of pads.  He has his name embroidered on his right foot.  He is a unique teddy!

Freddy loves his Fudgy Bear.  He is a great companion  to sit down ans watch TV with.

He is also lovely to cuddle when you want a big hug.   Both Freddy and Kizzy enjoyed  snuggling with Fudgy Bear.  He really is the softest teddy I've ever squeezed!

Fudgy isn't just a lovable, huggable teddy.  He is also supports learning with his series of books that your child will love.  The books that Sarah wrote featuring Fudgy's adventures are unique and fun and teach your child about animals, animal noises, colours, shapes and numbers. Lovely, colourful photographs introduce pre-schoolers to the zoo, the farm and the seaside.

The glossy paperback books bring Fudgy Bear to life in a series of exciting adventures.  The full colour pictures feature Fudgy, and Freddy loved pointing him out on the pages.  The books have great educational value, making learning fun!

Kizzy has enjoyed sharing Fudgy and the books with her little brother.  She reads him the stories while he holds onto Fudgy Bear.  It is very sweet!

Fudgy Bear has his own canvas bag so you can carry him and his books around safely.  There is also a fun Fudgy Bear Activity Book to accompany the series.

You can buy your own Fudgy Bear for just £15.99.  His books are £5.99 each.  At the moment you can purchase Fudgy Bear with all Five books for just £39.95 plus you'll receive a free canvas bag and activity book!  What an amazing Christmas present for your little one!

I'll be giving away a Fudgy Bear with two of the gorgeous books plus the activity book and canvas bag so keep you eyes peeled for that competition coming very soon!!

Wow! It's Robin's Medical Rescue!

It's no secret that I love Wow Toys!!  I love the friendly characterization of the vehicles.  I love the fact that batteries are not required.  I love the way they are perfect for little hands to play with. And I love how robust and tough they are when being 'loved' by a toddler!

I received Robin's Medical Rescue for Freddy to try out from Wow and instantly he fell in love with it telling me to open the box as soon as I showed it to him.  The ambulance is lovely and equipped with lots of bits and bobs for taking care of patients including a stretcher, a wheelchair and an x-ray machine.

There are three figures included, Nina the paramedic, a "grandma" (as Fred called it) and a chap with a broken leg.

They are easy to pop in and out of the stretcher, wheelchair and driving seat of the ambulance.  Freddy let them all have a turn at "going to sleep" in the stretcher...even Paramedics need a rest sometimes!

The ambulance has a sliding door and the back drops down to make a ramp. A magic button drops the ramp and another button releases the wheelchair.  The top is open allowing little hands to play with the contents.

The ambulance pushes along with a very satisfying friction powered motorised action and with realistic engine sounds.  Everything fits into the back of the ambulance keeping all the contents together when not in play.

Freddy loves his Wow toys and has learned to say "ambulance"!  He is at the stage where he engages in role play, making the figures interact and snore when they are in the stretcher! He enjoys exploring the magic buttons and using the push down x-ray machine.  The wheelchair also gets zoomed around like a little car adding to Fred's play experience!

All in all, it is another great toy for children aged 18 months to 5 years old.  It can be purchased for £25.48 from Amazon.  It will definitely delight any pre-schooler.

Whizz Along with a Whirlee

The Whirlee from Mookie is the next big thing in sit 'n' ride wheels for your pre-schooler!  The compact, practical and stackable design weighs just 865g, making it really lightweight.  This is a really useful feature for anyone who has ever carried a cumbersome and heavy ride-on toy whilst trying to keep hold of an escaping toddler at the same time!!  It can be easily carried to and from the park or popped in the car to take on holiday or to the grandparent's house to keep your toddler entertained.

A fun feature is the 360 degree caster wheels, allowing little ones to spin speedily across the floor in all directions.  The wide base keeps the toy very stable as it whizzes around!

The Whirlees are available in red or blue.  The one we were sent has a cute aeroplane design on it.  Freddy piloted it around the laminate and tiled floors with no trouble at all.

The Whirlee is suitable for children aged 1-4 years.  At 2 Freddy can easily get on and off  and was perfectly stable holding onto the handle at the front and scooting along with his feet.  It was also light enough for him to carry around easily.  He literally couldn't wait to play on it when it arrived.

Priced at £19.99 this is a good priced ride-on toy with the added benefit of being lightweight and portable, and with the added play value of having the 360 degree caster wheels. It is available from good stockists including Mothercare.  It is a great idea for a Christmas present for a toddler...just imagine them whizzing around the Christmas tree!!
