Things To Do In Historic Cambridgeshire

The idea of moving house always remains at the back of my mind. Not that I'm unhappy with my house in our rural North Shropshire market town.  It's just the idea of a fresh start is always appealing and I love to look at houses on the internet and fantasize about living somewhere new! I enjoy browsing through photos of new houses with their shiny kitchens and bathrooms and imagine the potential within their walls. Also as the Easter holidays approach, we are looking for places in the UK to visit for days out or short breaks. Who knows, one such visit may be just the trigger I need to up sticks and make a new life for my family. Here is a guest post extolling the virtues of Peterborough with its booming economy, exciting regeneration and close proximity to the attractions of Cambridgeshire.  Handy for Cambridge University too, just in case one of my younger two turn out to be intellectual geniuses with a passion for rowing!

Cambridgeshire

A breath of fresh air

At last the rain, hail and wind have decided to leave us for the winter, which only means one thing – family fun in the sun. Quite simply exploring Cambridgeshire’s attractive scenery is enough to keep the little ones entertained for hours, especially if you’re willing to take a picnic along.

Other historical attractions

The beautiful town of Cambridge is also home to one of the world’s most renowned Universities, which was established in 1209. A trip to this ancient University town will keep you entertained for hours on end, especially as there are a vast number of antiquities and treasures to explore.

Getting around

Getting around is easy, regardless of whether you choose to walk, jump in the car or use one of the many local transport services. Those that wish to travel further afield to the city of London can do so by jumping aboard one of the high speed trains, which will take you to the capital in less than an hour. The nearest airport is Stansted, which offers a variety of routes, including links to a number of European cities and attractions.

The best time to explore the cities sights and sounds

The Christmas and Easter holidays are a great time to explore this area as this is when many of the students return home, which means the streets appear less crowded with people."
