Even though I have a walking, talking, potty trained toddler, he still has a secret penchant for bed time breast feeding. The boy will not give up his boob. This is met with revulsion and disgust from some, but frankly I am happy to oblige for as long as my little boy feels the need. He is healthy, strong, bright, intelligent, independent and sociable. It's not doing him any harm. He's not turning out clingy or needy. I can leave him overnight without any problem if necessary and he never feeds away from home. It is also sometimes such a positive thing to be able to do. If he has a fall and hurts himself, or if he is poorly, I can comfort him and provide him nourishment in one loving gesture. It costs nothing and I'm confident that he will self wean shortly. After all none of my other children have ended up as breastfeeding school children!
As my mad de-cluttering continues, with a view to putting our house on the market, I've been unearthing all manner of long forgotten items buried in my clutter. The latest was a box of breast pads. I've been really lucky and have never really suffered from leaky boobs. After feeding five kids I think my seasoned boobs have got their supply and demand worked out. These pads were bought last year when I went to Cybermummy and had visions of waking up after a night in a hotel on my own, swimming in a sea of breast milk. It may have been good enough for Cleopatra to bathe in milk...but I personally prefer a shower! My fears were however unfounded, and I was leak free. Ergo the breast pads were shelved and forgotten till now.
The packet of breast pads became an object of total interest for Kizzy and Freddy who were not sure what they were. It became like a game of Whose Line is it Anyway, with the kids acting out 101 uses for a breast pad. We had hats...everything from berets to skull caps. We had a face mask....Jason Vorhees anyone?? We had a padded bikini (which reminded me of something you could buy in Primark which would spark the whole sexualising our kids debate.) My personal favourite was the pirate's eye patch which was sported whilst shouting the mandatory "Arrrrr"s!
It made a fun distraction from the tedium of tidying. Who'd have thought that something purchased to stem lactation leaks could be such fun to a pair of children with huge imaginations and a penchant for fun?!

The fire engine is beautifully made, and chunky for little hands to hold. It is very robust and solid and is made with great attention to detail. From the felt peak on the fireman's helmet to his beaded hands to his painted face, the little fireman character is very appealing to tiny tots. His fire engine has a hose cord that pulls out from the side of the vehicle. It can be wound back in by turning a handle, encouraging fine motor skills. The ladder slides into the holders on the back of the fire engine and offers scope for some great fireman related role play. Your little one will be saving cats from trees and putting out imaginary fires in no time!
Freddy really liked his little fire engine. He enjoyed putting the fireman in and out of his seat, making him climb the ladder and whizz around the floor in his fire truck making nee-naw sound effects! The bright colours, quirky, fun design and play value have put this Fire Engine firmly into Freddy's current favourite toys!
The Fireman Rosso Rasante is currently on sale for £19.40 at VUP Baby. It is suitable for ages 12 months+.

Get Creative with the Kids and CubbyKit
Kids love getting messy with a fun art activity. Nothing beats glue, glitter, crayons and play dough to spark a child's creativity and keep them entertained for hours.
CubbyKit is the new subscription based service offering creative crafts delivered directly to your door. Each box is themed with subjects such as Spring, Outer Space or Music. They contain full instructions and supplies for several activities, as well as suggestions for ways to explore further.
CubbyKits allow busy parents to have one on one time with their children, whilst getting creative with exciting arts activities. The kits are entertaining, inspiring and educational, designed by experts and suitable for children aged 3-6 years old.
We were lucky enough to be asked to test out a CubbyKit for 3-4 year olds. The big box arrived and we were excited to open it up and find out what was inside. It was well packaged with tissue paper and stickers.
The CubbyKit was Outer Space themed with the supplies required to make Mushy Martians, A Star Constellation Chart and a 3D Rocket Picture.
We decided to get stuck in with the Mushy Martians which is a great fun activity involving DIY playdough. The ingredients were all ready weighed up in labelled pots ready to combine into the dough. The instructions were very clear and well illustrated. Fun facts add to the educational value and offer useful prompts to talk about the theme with your child.
The green dough was so tactile and Freddy loved rolling it, squishing it and shaping it. He popped on the eyes and pipe cleaner antennae helped by big sister Kizzy who loved getting involved in the arts activities.
It was great fun to watch him making his own Mushy Martian although he was adamant that it was a bumble bee! The instructions included some space facts and further ideas for play dough creations.
Mushy Martian...or Bumble Bee???
Freddy thoroughly enjoyed his other two space related arts activities too. He made a lovely Star Constellation Chart with gold glitter splodges and his 3D Rocket Ship Picture was beautifully crayoned!! He loved the space theme and chatted about rockets and stars which is great for extending his vocabulary.
Splodging the Glitter Glue Stars
Sticking with Kizzy
3D Rocket Ships
We had great fun. Kizzy loved helping Freddy with any tricky bits and it was lovely to see them working together. She learned lots of great space facts too. The kits are really well put together and although aimed at younger children held great appeal with her too.
The CubbyKit subscription would make a fabulous gift for a child and is available to order both monthly or annually. All you need to do is roll up your sleeves and get stuck in with your little one!

My Valentine's Day Cookie Recipe
Every year for Valentine's Day I make a chocolate mousse which is incredibly dark, dense and rich. This year I've decided to go for something more playful and fun...the perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie with a Chocolate Dipping Sauce. Ideal for sharing and feeding to each other, with enough chocolate sauce to use as a bit of cheeky body paint if the mood takes you!! Plus, it can be made completely in advance leaving you all the time in the world to spend with your Valentine!!
I've been researching the perfect cookie...you know those cookies that are crispy on the outside, but chewy inside. After extensive taste testing I've adapted what I've found to invent my very own luscious Valentine's Day Cookie.
Ingredients
350g plain flour
1 tspn Bicarbonate of Soda
225g butter
200g golden caster sugar
150g light brown soft sugar
1 tspn vanilla essence
2 eggs
100g bar of Green and Black's Dark Chocolate with Raspberry chopped (it adds a fruity twist!)
150g bar of dark chocolate chopped
1 sprinkle of Love xxxx
Method
Cream the butter and sugar and beat in the eggs and vanilla essence. Mix the flour and bicarb together in a bowl and then add gradually to the creamed mixture. Stir in the chopped chocolate.
The dough is very soft and gooey.
Using a spoon, blob the dough onto a greased baking tray and pop into a pre-heated oven at 190 degrees. I I made three baking trays worth of cookies!
Serve with a bowl of chocolate sauce made by heating a small pot of single cream and melting in half a bar of dark chocolate. Perfect for two.
If you have a secret Valentine or if your older children want to give a present to their crushes, just pop a few cookies into an organza bag. Who could resist a bag of these sweet treats!
Even after all this, there will still be plenty of cookies left to give the kids...you can bribe them to give you and your partner some much needed alone time! These really are the ultimate Valentine's Day Cookies!!

Yes We Had Snow!
It is definitely a pre-occupation of the British to obsess about the weather. This weekend, we had a will it, won't it debate regarding the likelihood of snow. Although I was dreading the s-word after last year's frozen nightmare, I must confess to that feeling of magic as the white flakes begun to tumble from the sky.
It settled quickly and Freddy grabbed his wellies and ran to the back door wanting to get out into the garden. They have a sixth sense that makes them know how much fun is to be had, in spite of the sub zero temperatures. Now Fred is potty trained, he didn't have the luxury of a padded nappy to insulate his nether regions so it was a real first for him to feel the freeze, but he didn't seem to mind too much!
Kizzy and Freddy enjoyed a day in the snow, and these photos show the fun they had. They made a snowman, snowcastles using a bucket and had Daddy pull them round and around on their sledge. Afterwards they came in for hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. A perfect winter's day!
I was glad to see most of the snow on the roads had all defrosted this morning, school runs and the M6 commute are not helped by the white stuff. Hopefully this is a one off treat for the children that is not to be repeated any time soon. We were lucky having a weekend Winter Wonderland to enjoy, but I remember all too well how terrifying and dangerous the big chills can be.

Personalised Gifts from Merci Maman
It's not often that I receive a package through the post that makes me have a little weep of joy! But this is exactly what happened when I was sent a beautiful charm necklace from Merci Maman.
The stunning box that it arrived in, was itself a thing of such quality and beauty that I couldn't wait to open it up and peek inside. When I lifted the lid I was not disappointed.
The bespoke personalised long charm necklace was perfectly displayed. The black braid held five sterling silver heart shaped charms, one for each of my children.
The names of all five of my children were hand engraved onto the hearts, written in gorgeous French style script. Each heart is hung on a different length of braid, cascading from oldest to youngest.
I felt so emotional looking at this necklace and what it symbolised. Having all of my babies close to my heart is so special. It is truly lovely.
If you are looking for a personalised gift for a loved one, the charming and unique jewellery products that are created at Merci Maman really will touch your recipient's heart. Each piece can be personalised with a short message, names, nicknames, initials or special dates. For any occasion, the Merci Maman range of necklaces, bracelets, pendants, keyrings and cufflinks can be customised to suit your needs. There are different charms and styles to choose from. So many beautiful things!
Visit Merci Maman to see their full range of engraved and also embroidered bespoke gifts.
Don't forget that Valentine's Day and Mother's Day are coming up!
The long charm necklace I was sent starts at £75 for a three charm piece to £150 for eight charms.
Eczema Relief from Cetaphil
Ever since my 9 year old daughter Kizzy was a baby, she has been plagued with eczema. Although she has thankfully grown out of the angry, bleeding skin troubles she had when she was younger, she still has very dry, itchy patches on her belly, arms and legs. We have tried all manner of potions and lotions on her, with varying degrees of success.
When I was sent some Cetaphil Restoraderm Body Wash and Moisturiser to try out, I hoped it would be good for Kizzy's ongoing skin problems. It is clinically proven to reduce the dryness, redness and irritation of dry, senstive and eczema prone skin. It is suitable for adults and children over 3 months old. The therapeutic skincare range can be used daily and is hypoallergenic, preservative and fragrance free.
The soap-free wash gently foams to a lather which is nice. A lot of eczema washes don't lather up, and we all love bubbles!! It contains skin nourishing oils to restore and preserve moisture in the skin. The moisturising cream has a pump dispensing top, so Kizzy found it easy to dispense it into her hand to rub liberally over her skin. It spread really well and absorbed easily and left no greasy residue. A little goes a really long way.
After using both products for a few days, Kizzy says that her skin feels softer and less irritated. She also says the soreness and itchiness goes when it is applied. That suggests to me that it is definitely having a positive effect and I'll encourage her to keep slathering the cream on both morning and night. The products don't sting her sore skin which is something that she has experienced before with other creams and washes.
Cetaphil is available to purchase from Boots with a 295ml bottle of moisturiser selling for £19.99. The Skin Restoring Body Wash is £15.99.
I am really pleased with the results from using the Cetaphil products, I hate to see Kizzy's skin all sore and itchy and it really does look a lot better already. It is early days, but the Cetaphil range definitely seems to be addressing the problems associated with eczema prone skin.

When Your House Stops Feeling Like Home
When I moved to Shropshire from our home down south eleven years ago, I thought I'd be settled for life. I loved the idea of living in the country and raising my family in a rural environment. I had visions of country walks, coffee in quaint cafes and fresh country air to breathe.
The reality has never really matched up to this fantasy. Don't get me wrong, it was the best decision I ever made to leave my flat and my drug dealing neighbours, but I've always felt like a city girl in a country setting, and that feeling has been growing. When I first moved here, it was quite a thriving little market town, but slowly the shops have closed making the high street a depressing collection of charity shops, bargain shops, kebab take aways and not much more. I had a favourite canalside shop and cafe which was a lovely place to spend a few hours. It closed down a few years ago like most of the other places I liked around here. Even the local branch of my bank shut down meaning my nearest one is miles away. There is a weekly market which is very well attended but I can't stand it! Stalls selling clothes, books and fruit and veg that are all open to the elements and have seen better days, really don't do it for me. I like nice, big shiny shops with fabulous displays that sell beautiful things. I like a wide choice of eateries and coffee shops. I like art galleries, museums and parks.
The nearest shopping centre is 20 miles away, and it isn't that great. Many shops stand empty and a lot of the stores I love at the Bullring or the Trafford Centre are not found in Telford. We have to travel 50+ miles for any serious shopping!
My dream of having lovely, long walks in the countryside have also not come to fruition. Any land around here is used for farming, and although there are some pedestrian routes across fields, that isn't the kind of walking I want to do with the children. I like woodland walks with safe pathways for the kids to cycle, a field to kick around a ball and a cafe by the car park!
The fresh country air turns out to be a disappointment too. The smell of the fertilizer that the farmer spreads on the fields smells like a combination of fish and vomit. It's acrid! If the winds in a certain direction, all you can smell is cow manure. It's like a thick, green cloud of stench descends over the town. I'm not cut out for this agricultural living!!
There is also the fact that my children can't just pop to the cinema or to a concert. The nearest cinema is about 15 miles away and there is no bus to get them there. In fact the bus service from here is abysmal, with more routes being cut all the time. The nearest train station is 40 minutes away so they can't even get to the major towns without our parental taxi service. The opportunities are limited to hanging around parks or going to sleepovers with bottles of WKD to add to the entertainment. I want my children to be able to see the latest films, see top bands, go to the theatre and have access to ice skating, bowling and bustling shopping centres. We're not even in a Domino's Pizza delivery zone here!
So, we've made the decision. It's time to go. Megan is graduating this year and intends to head down south to do an internship or graduate scheme in London (fingers crossed). Ian already commutes 50 miles into Birmingham everyday for work, so it wouldn't make any difference to his job if we moved a similar distance South of Birmingham. Joe already lives in Northampton, so that seems like a good starting point for us to look at relocating. There are some places around there for us to look at.
I'd love to be closer to a big town or city. I'd love easy access to public transport meaning I could whisk myself into London when I'm invited to events! My children would have every opportunity to live the life they deserve with a degree of independence.
I'm under no illusion that it will be easy to sell my house, although it is a lovely four bedroomed detached house with an amazing ensuite bathroom in a nice quiet, cul-de-sac. It's not that I don't like my house, it's just I don't want to be here anymore. A fresh start sounds really attractive. I've never really made many friends here and I spend every day sat at home with Freddy waiting for the afternoon school run. Not that I'm complaining too much...it is a great opportunity to do my blogging! I'd love to be a lady that lunches with a circle of friends when Fred starts nursery, and it isn't ever going to happen here.
So, we're throwing our future into the hands of the Gods. If we sell, we move. If not, we'll carry on making the best of what we've got....and putting plenty of miles on the car to give the kids the life I want them to have.

Me and the MuTu System
Before Christmas, I was chosen as a MuTu Mama, to trial the 12 week online training programme designed just for mums. Pregnancy and birth take their toll on a woman's body and can lead to physical problems that continue long after your baby is born. The MuTu system is designed for post-natal women (however old your baby now is!)
After having Freddy, my fifth child, I was left with ruptured stomach muscles (Diastasis Recti) which left me with a big gaping hole in my abs! You could literally push your fingers into my internal organs!! I tried to do sit-ups to fix it, but with zero strength in my core, I could barely lift my head off the ground. I was actually making the problem worse while trying to make it better. I was even told by a personal trainer that I may have to consider surgery to have my stomach stitched together, which sounded really serious.
The MuTu system focuses on post-partum problems such as Diastasis Recti, so I thought I had nothing to lose by giving it a go before resorting to serious medical intervention to fix my gaping stomach muscles.
The MuTu System comprises of five interconnecting elements woven together into a series of workouts, motivational strategies and eating guidelines. Mutu Core repairs and restores tummies. MuTu Breathe helps us relax and tones the pelvic floor. MuTu Intensive is a 15 minute workout. MuTu Posture helps us to stand tall and find our mojo. MuTu Food encourages us to eat right without any hang ups. It allows real women to get stronger, fitter, leaner, sexier and more confident in the long term, and fits into our busy lifestyles.
I started the MuTu system with loads of enthusiasm. Unfortunately, I have an old spinal condition which means that I have restricted mobility in my lower back. I have tried yoga and pilates in the past, but the spinal rolling motion that many of the moves require, puts something out of alignment which is extremely painful for days. Consequently, I put my back out doing the first breathing exercises! Oh dear :( However, Wendy Powell from MuTu phoned me up. This system isn't just a virtual subscription to an exercise plan, it is real coaching with a real team of understanding people ready to help you succeed. We discussed my problem and realised that I couldn't just blindly throw myself into exercising, and that I'd probably need extensive physiotherapy to right my spine (which I'll save for another day, because 99% of the time I am pain free as my body has adapted to cope with it). But we discussed what it was I wanted to achieve with MuTu and how I could achieve it.
Consequently, my personal goal was to repair the Diastasis Recti which was my biggest concern. Adapting certain positions and being aware of my weakness, enabled me to embark on exercises to strengthen and repair my core. I have to say that I was amazed to see my stomach muscles coming back together! The gap was narrowed and the strength was returning. After two years of being split open, they became firmer and the damage was being repaired on the MuTu system. I lost 2" off my waist measurement within 2 weeks simply by having them close together. MuTu had done what I was told could only be repaired by surgery. My stomach muscles now feel normal again. I am so grateful!
With my goal achieved, I have to confess that I didn't push myself further into the programme. But I've taken bits on board and will continue with those. I have my downloaded programme and the online videos, so it's still all available to me. For the information and exercises on fixing my tummy muscles alone, this has been invaluable and I can't recommend the programme enough for that element of the MuTu System. Wendy Powell really knows her stuff!
The MuTu System costs just £57 for the 12 week programme. That is less than a fiver a week (cheaper than a Latte and a Muffin at Starbucks!!), for a programme that could literally change your life! This is what you'll get:

Red Carpet Glamour by Next
The Elle Style Awards 2012 are being held in London on February 13th. The star studded event celebrates all that is great in the world of fashion and this year is again being proudly sponsored by Next.
What better way to celebrate this than by creating a glamorous, red carpet look using items from Next.co.uk, showing that high street style can satisfy even the most discerning fashionistas!
Last year, style icon Emma Watson looked stunning in this nude coloured mini dress with cut out detail by Hakaan. Playful and a little bit daring, this look is very chic.
To recreate this look, I have teamed an Elise Ryan Mesh Body Con dress with a pair of satin lace bow platform shoes, and accessorised the outfit with some sparkly gold and cream bangles, all from Next.

The trend towards the neutral palette does not mean that fashion has to be stuck in neutral! It's all about the texture and cut of key items. The dress has a scoop neckline, cut out detail on the bust and on the back, and a figure hugging ruched mesh front to add texture . This attention to detail is inspired by catwalk designs and celebrity trends and adds a flirty vibe. A perfect dress for the A-listers' after-awards party! The shoes have lace bow detail and are open toed making them perfect for a special occasion and bringing a touch of drama to the outfit. The stiletto and platform heel add length to your legs making you look tall and sleek for the papparazzi! The set of gold and cream bangles add a touch of glamour and sparkle to the outfit, embellished with diamanté and glitter. A perfect look for the red carpet!
You can pick up this outfit for less than £50 (the dress is currently only £20.99 in the sale!), so you would look out of this world, without it costing the earth! Red carpet glamour at high street prices!

Reasons to be Cheerful Week 5

Cleaning Up Student Digs
My daughter Megan is in her final year in University and lives in a shared house in Manchester. As with most student housing, the landlord is more interested in taking the monthly rent cheque, than ensuring the comfort and safety of his tenants. The house is old, poorly insulated and damp. There is no double glazing or ventilation, so every time someone showers, cooks...or even breathes, condensation forms.
Recently I received a phone call from Meg in a state of utter disgust. She decided to re-arrange her room and was horrified to discover that the wall behind her bed and wardrobe was covered in thick, black mould. The damp in her room had saturated the wallpaper causing it to be a haven for fungus. Meg is asthmatic and has always been worse after sleeping in her room, clearly lying just inches away from the wall and breathing in mould and mildew spores isn't good for one's lungs.
Once the mould was discovered, Meg was able to don her rubber gloves and scrub at it with a bleach solution until it was virtually gone. But the underlying problem of the damp room still existed. The landlord told her to leave her window open all day...not the best advice given that their house has already been burgled through one of her housemate's open windows just a few weeks ago.
I do believe however that we may have a solution to the problem of dampness and condensation in her room. As if by some cosmic action, timed to perfection, I was contacted to see if I wanted to try a Unibond Humidity Absorber. I gratefully accepted the offer on behalf of my daughter in need!
Everyday activities can create up to 12 litres of unwanted moisture in the air each day. In areas with poor circulation, this moisture condenses. This leads to peeling wallpaper, mould and mildew, damp and increases allergens in the air. The Unibond Humidity Absorber absorbs up to 30% of the excess moisture, converting it into a salty solution and neutralising odours and combating air borne allergens. It uses a special 2 in 1 power tab that is placed into the top of the device. Its active ingredients convert humidity into a solution that collects in the tank below and can be poured away easily. One tab lasts for 6-8 weeks.
We were sent the large Humidity Absorber which is suitable for a room up to 20 metres squared. It comes with two 450g power tabs. A smaller version is available containing two 300g power tabs which is suitable for smaller rooms up to 10 metres squared.
The device itself is not an eye sore and can sit quite discreetly on a window sill doing its job, sucking the moisture out of the room. It is a surprise to see water droplets forming within 24 hours and every drop in the tank is a drop that isn't causing dampness in Meg's room. As a parent to a university student, I think this is a very reasonable method of combating the problem of a damp room. Hopefully Meg will be able to sleep better and breathe easier in her room now.
The Large Humidity Absorber is £19.99, the small one is £13.99 with the refill tabs costing £9.99 and £7.99 respectively.

Healthy Snacks for Toddlers
Plum are without doubt one off my favourite baby food brands. When Freddy was a baby he loved the pouches and I loved the fact that Plum used Quinoa (my favourite superfood!) in their products! So when I was offered a couple of packs of Plum's new Oaty Chomps toddler snacks to try, I hoped they would prove to be very popular with Fred.
The Oaty Chomps come in the very delicious sounding Strawberry Cheesecake and Pumpkin Pie flavours. They are suitable for toddlers aged 12 months + and encourage self-feeding. They make ideal snacks to keep little ones going between meals. Each box contains five individually wrapped bars, which at 20g are perfect for little hands to hold.
The bars are packed with oats, quinoa and raisins, making a naturally sweet treat for tiny tots to enjoy. They are brownish in colour, quite dense and softish in texture and quite flavoursome, very similar to the bars you can buy for yourself in health food shops. I thought they were really tasty, with the sweetness of dried fruits combined with the texture and taste of the cereals.
Kizzy had a try and really liked the taste and texture of the Oaty Chomps. She enjoyed the mild, fruity flavours. Unfortunately Freddy wasn't too sure about them, but he is less of a fan of dried fruit which is the predominant taste. Therefore Kizzy will be having them in her lunchbox.
When it comes to snacking, products like Plum Oaty Chomp Bars are invaluable for parents who want to avoid 'junk' in their little ones' diets, providing the necessary nutrition with no added sugar.
The Oaty Chomps cost £1.99 for a box of 5 bars.

The Cost of Love
Albelli have been learning all about our romantic habits with their Valentine's Survey! We may like to think we are a nation of romantics but some of the facts dispute this claim. For example did you know 40% of people don't give their partners a present at all! For those that do, the average spend is £22, with three times as many men than women spending over £40!
Women prefer sentimental gifts such as a personalised photo book. Featuring photos of favourite places, snaps of you both when you were younger and pictures taken throughout your relationship, a photo book is the ultimate romantic gesture.
Albelli have come up with some present inspiration for Valentine's Day gift ideas to help you come up with the perfect present for your loved one. From canvases to acrylics, calendars to photo books, there is something for everyone, allowing you to create thoughtful and unique gifts.
Check out the fun and interesting facts on this graphic about "The Cost of Love" and see what categories you fall into!
I have been sent a code to make my own photo book from Albelli and I'll be making one for Ian's Valentine's Day present. Who says romance is not alive and well!!
How To Cook a Curry!
On Saturday I was lucky enough to join a group of fellow bloggers for a fantastic experience courtesy of Living Social. We met at Dilli's Indian Restaurant in Altrincham for a fantastic demonstration and lesson in Indian cuisine.
Dilli's is a restaurant that serves authentic regional dishes from the heart of India, and has become the benchmark for fine Indian dining. They run independent cookery classes where you can discover some of the secrets of India's fascinating and unique way of combining flavours and ingredients. Chefs Ravi and Naeem run the classes consisting of a half hour demonstration followed by a hands-on three dish class with instruction.
We each had our own work station and apron...I felt like I was on Masterchef!
Chef Naeem first demonstrated how to make onion bhajis and mango lassi. His knife skills were very impressive! His knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for Indian cuisine kept us all completely enthralled.
We were given lots of tips during the demonstration. Slicing onions, salting them and leaving them to rest draws out the moisture. This process can be used to make crispy fried onions if you dry them off or provides enough liquid to bind the bhaji mix when you add gram flour.
The bhajis were exquisite, served with an amazing mint and coriander sauce which was just so fresh and zingy, or a rich tamarind sauce.
We learned about the different regions of India and how various ingredients were associated with them. We were told how misused the word 'curry' was in England. Curry merely means gravy in India. Also, Masala is simply a word to describe something that consists of three or more ingredients! It was really informative.
After enjoying the bhajis, we were let loose to cook three dishes for ourselves, under the close guidance and tuition of the chefs. Vegetarians were very well catered for with separate and alternate ingredients.
My work station
We used fresh ingredients and a whole array of wonderful spices. The smell in the room was amazing! We made an absolutely delicious Paneer Kali Mirch.
A Dal Tarka.
And an Aloo Palak.
The recipes were wonderful, producing three fantastic restaurant quality dishes that I took home for our dinner. We were also treated to lunch in the restaurant, which was delicious and came with the best nan bread I've ever had. Dilli's is an amazing restaurant with authentic food that tasted divine. If you are ever near Altrincham, I'd highly recommend it.
