The Real Cupcake Company

There is nothing in this world as delicious as a freshly baked cupcake topped with lashings of frosting.  Little bakeries and tea rooms have sprung up across the country on the back of the rising popularity of the cupcake, and they are being sold at a premium!  Imagine being able to make your own quality, gourmet cupcakes in your own home for a fraction of the cost!  Well...imagine no more.  The Real Cupcake Company have created a range of dairy free gourmet cupcake kits using real fruit and no artificial ingredients, colourings or flavourings!  Designed with the home baking experience in mind, you just need to add egg.  It is quick and easy to make a dozen gorgeous cupcakes.  I was sent a Strawberry Kit to try out for myself.

The kit arrives by post and needs to be refrigerated until you use it.  Inside is everything you need (except for two eggs) including a ready-to-bake plain cake mixture, ready-to-pipe real fruit icing mix, decorations, 12 cupcake cases, two piping bags, piping nozzles and instructions.

The contents of the cupcake kit.
You add two eggs to the cake mixture which then simply needs to be whisked for 30 seconds on slow then for 60 seconds on high.

Whisk with 2 eggs.
The mixture is then divided into the 12 cupcake cases and then popped into the pre-heated oven at GM4 for 12-15 minutes.  Simple!  Once they are cooked and cold, you are ready to ice them.  The piping bags and nozzles can be used to create a swirl or rose frosting effect with the ready-to-pipe strawberry icing.  To be honest, my skills were not quite up to the illustrations in the instruction book, but once the decorations are on it doesn't really matter!

Strawberry Cupcake
The cupcakes were indeed gorgeous, with light, bouncy, airy sponge topped with soft, sweet icing bursting with real strawberry flavour.  They are deliciously fruity and it is so nice to taste real fruit in the icing rather than synthetic flavourings.  It is a touch of culinary genius!!

Yummy!
The Real Cupcake Company stock kits in Lemon, Orange and Strawberry  flavours, each made with real fruit.  Perfect for parties, they will really impress your guests.  For a more decadent treat, there are Strawberry & Champagne and Blueberry & Bourbon cupcake kits available.  They make 12 devilishly delicious cupcakes, made with premium wines or spirits, perfect for grown-ups.  What a great idea for Valentine's Day!!

Prices start at £9.99 with free postage.

The Dioctipoid Puzzle Ball

I remember the first wave of the Rubik's Cubes when they hit the shops back in the seventies!  It would make the teatime news when someone broke the record for completing it in the quickest time.  There was gasps of disbelief when someone did it blindfolded!  I even completed it once (with help from a 'how to' guide and a lot of luck).  Since then, there has been a constant stream of successors in search of that crown that the Rubik's Cube has worn for many a year.  The Dioctipoid is the newest contender in the genre!

Dioctipoid 2.0 on its stand.
The Dioctipoid makes the Rubik's Cube look positively square!!  The iconically designed spherical puzzle ball consists of segments that rotate in groups around any of the four axes.  The idea is to rediscover the starting pattern and solve the puzzle!  The Dioctipoids come in two difficulties 1.0 and 2.0. 1.0 has six coloured star patterns with white diamond segments, the 2.0 has stars with coloured diamond segments to make it harder to solve.

Dioctipoid 1.0

I was sent one of each to try out.  The puzzle balls are really tactile with the segments sliding easily across the sphere.  It is quite stress relieving to slide the pieces, rotating them and re-orientating the ball.  However the puzzle itself is very difficult.  So much so that there is a cash prize offered to anyone who solves it in the shortest time!  To date, no-one has claimed to have solved either puzzle.

The Dioctipoid is well made out of hard plastic, is nicely weighted and is sized to fit nicely in the palm of your hand.  The colours are nice and the ball looks quite intriguing sat on its stand.

I am probably never going to solve the Dioctipoid in a million years, however it is an enjoyable way to while away some time.  Trying to reform the stars is very trying, but as there is no time limit or annoying electronic beeps creating undue pressure, it is not stressful!  You can set mini targets of solving a certain amount of stars which is more achievable and gets you used to how the pieces move.  The pieces move nicely without getting locked up as long as you keep the shape by re-orientating the sphere between moves.  You can pick it up and put it down at your leisure.  It comes with its own stand so you can keep it on display ready for family and friends to try.  It will definitely become a talking point with everyone wanting a go.

The Dioctipoid is recommended for children aged 8 and over.  The boxed puzzle comes complete with a token for the competition run by Dioctipoid.com where full details can be found.

For hardcore puzzle enthusiasts, this will be the ultimate challenge in spherical geometry, offering hours of twisty-turny puzzling.

In a world full of electronic toys it is refreshing to see a toy that does not rely on batteries.  As a toy for an older child or as an executive toy for an adult, it'll give the grey matter the ultimate work out!

You can buy your own Dioctipoid for the special price of £18.49!

What Was Number One When You Were Born?

Here is a challenge for you:

1: Find the song that was number one on the day you were born.  (You can do that by entering your date of birth here for the UK.)

2: Find the video on You Tube.

3: Post it onto your blog.

I'm sure this will make me feel very old as my number one is The Beatles "Get Back"...yes I was a sixties baby!!

Reasons to be Cheerful First of 2012

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy from the Heart

Can you believe it! Michelle's Reasons to be Cheerful has reached its first anniversary.  Over the last year she has reminded us to find the good in our everyday lives, smile at the little things and be aware of how blessed we really are.

So, here we are in 2012 and ready to see the positives every week in this brand new year.  Things haven't started brilliantly for us so far.  I've had a fall, the wind has destroyed our fences and we've all got re-runs of our coughs and colds.

However, there are always things to be cheerful about!

1:  We had a wonderful Christmas this year at Ribby Hall Holiday village.  All my children were together along with Joe's girlfriend and my parents for a magical experience.  We saw Santa, we had an amazing Christmas dinner, we went swimming, me and Ian had a Spa Day and we shared lots of love and laughter.  Ian also gave me the engagement ring and proposal I have waited 15 years for!  (OK so we are already married...but it's never too late!)  I'm still on a high!

2:  I fell over, as I mentioned above, and although my hand swelled up and bruised, I didn't break it.  Thinking about the prospect of having a cast filled me with dread so I am breathing a huge sigh of relief!  A reason to be cheerful indeed.

3:  I am enjoying having my daughter Megan home for an extra week before she returns to university.  It's lovely having her company.  The little girls are back at school so having my big girl home has softened the blow.  I just wish we weren't both riddled with germs.

Link up at Mummy From the Heart and share your reasons to be cheerful!

The Next Blogger Event Official Video

Back in November I was lucky enough to attend the fabulous Next Blogger Event.  It was a really wonderful and kid friendly day, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

The video of the day has now been released.  I'm in it a few times checking out various items in the Next Spring Summer children's collection.  Freddy didn't make the final cut unfortunately, although he was filmed playing with a Thomas train.  He had a lovely time and especially enjoyed the rather delicious looking cupcakes that feature in the video!  All the other children look lovely in their Next outfits.  Take a look and see if you recognise any of the other bloggers and babies!

One Born Every Minute #Dads

It was October 2002.  Overdue and starting to panic, given the memory of my first son's stressful, induced delivery following the failure of my placenta, I was very fearful.  Heading to the High Risk maternity hospital, I was expecting at least 24 hours of waiting around for labour to start following the induction.  So it was decided that my sister would come with me to keep me company, while Ian went into work to finalise everything before going on paternity leave.  Sister and husband would change shifts in the evening, so Ian could be there when things got going.

Ian had been present at Ella's birth 5 years earlier.  We went into hospital after my waters broke in the late evening.  I was assessed and told that nothing would happen until morning and Ian should go home.  My sister was also with us and we kicked up a fuss because I didn't want to be left alone.  The midwife tutted and found us a pre-labour room with no bed in it, instead it had a ball and a mat on the floor!  We were then ignored.  Three hours later, having had no check-ups, no monitoring and no pain relief, my 9lb baby girl was born.  My sister had shouted for help and the tutting midwife ambled in, took one look at me and suddenly went into ultra efficient mode.  She didn't even have time to get her gloves on though!  It was an unnecessarily stressful birth in that we were simply left alone and I was made out to be an over reacting early labourer.  Ian did not have the experience he had anticipated, being bedside in a well managed labour suite.  Instead he was part of an almost feral delivery.  None of us really knew what was going on, and for Ian, this was his first time seeing a baby being born.  He admits to feeling clueless and helpless.  He was a little shell-shocked, blown away and in emotional over load.  But he instantly fell in love with his newborn baby daughter that he cradled in his arms.  So the plan for birth number two was made. It was a good plan that covered everything... everything that is except for when things don't go to plan.

I arrived at the hospital and was processed, given a pessary to soften the cervix and left.  I instantly had a huge contraction pain which was dismissed by staff.  (Why am I hard to believe?)  I was sent to the lunch room and told that I couldn't have any with me until visiting time that afternoon.  Barbaric!  Ian phoned but in spite of my pains, I was convinced by the consultant that they were just a reaction to the pessary and not labour, so I told him to stick to the plan, but to stay in touch.  Me and my sister went to the hospital cafe as I didn't want to be left alone on the ward.  I couldn't even sit in the chair, jumping up every three minutes in pain.  We went back to the ward and asked if I could be assessed.  Again they said I wasn't in established labour.  At this point Ian who was sixty miles away and on tenterhooks, phoned the hospital.  He was told nothing was happening.  Meanwhile I was pacing, puffing and panting in the ward where other non-labouring were trying to enjoy visiting time with their families.  They tried not to stare at the mad woman in the corner!  Eventually I convinced someone that I needed a room as I was in pain and had no pain relief.  They begrudgingly let me into a delivery suite and said they'd monitor me for a half hour.  There was no urgency.  I asked someone to phone Ian.  They said they would.  The midwives faffed around trying to find a monitor.  Within 10 minutes of getting into the room at 3.17pm I gave birth kneeling up on the bed, unattended.  Midwives suddenly sprung into action...too little too late. Ian had missed it.

Unbeknown to me, he had not been contacted.  He had also in fact tried to phone up a further few times, each time being told nothing was happening, or being left on hold until the phone cut off.  With some sort of sixth sense in action, he left work because he couldn't bear to be so far away.  I had been told that Ian was being contacted so expected him to arrive in an hour or so.  Time crept on and he didn't come.  I had visions of him in a ditch somewhere.  I began to panic.  Bless him, he was driving around trying to find me my favourite snacks and magazines to bring to the hospital as he still thought nothing was going on and he'd be joining me at six o'clock.  It was only when he was congratulated on the birth of his new daughter by my friend who had picked up the children from school, that he realised he was a dad again.  If only we had all had mobile phones...none of the communication cock-ups would have happened!

When he did finally get to the hospital, 20 miles away, Kizzy was dressed and asleep in her crib and 2 hours old.  He was a gibbering wreck, shocked, stunned, upset, frustrated, but most of all over the moon to meet his brand new little girl.  He bonded with her as instantly as he would have done if things had gone to plan.

Freddy's birth put right all the mistakes and disappointments.  Ian and I were together throughout from me waking him up at 3am with my waters breaking to his birth at 5.56pm.  We laughed as he mopped up puddles of amniotic fluid as I had a huge amount of water and Fred's head wasn't engaged.  I was like a tap!  I didn't go into active labour until late afternoon, but he was allowed to stay with me.  We hugged.  We listened to music. He rubbed my back.  We did it all together.  He was 100% present, engaged and involved.  For once I had an amazing midwife who was straightforward, unpatronising and efficient.  Ian cut Freddy's cord and even managed to video himself doing it!  He dressed his son in his first little outfit.  He looked after him while I had a shower.  It was perfect.  Ian was in awe, but enjoyed the whole experience.  He knew what to expect and knew what I needed.  He was the most amazing birth partner, finally being given his chance to shine.

Even with births that did not go to plan, his love for each of our children is equal (including our two eldest who may not be his children biologically, but are his in every other sense of the word).  The only difference that Freddy's birth has made, is that it has made us closer as a couple.  We shared an experience that was simply awesome.  Ian feels now that he knows how good a birth can be.  He feels so blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful birthing experience, but that does not diminish the overwhelming joy he has felt when holding each newborn baby for the first time, regardless of how they came into the world.

Revamping My Ensuite with Mira

We've lived in our new build house now for six years and my once shiny ensuite shower unit was looking rather tired after coping with the demands of keeping the whole family clean.  The ceiling was spotted with mould, the shower head was getting bunged up with limescale and the shower slide bar was broken.  Definitely time for a makeover!

So with a new year dawning, we started Project Ensuite.  Thankfully for us, Mira offered us a 360i Four Spray Shower Head to try out and get the ball rolling.  The 360 has flipstream technology giving four unique spray experiences:

  • Rain for a fully drenching spray.
  • Burst for a sheet of massaging water.
  • Cloud for a soft, soothing soaking
  • Storm for a breathtaking down pour

With the Shower Head as our starting point we headed to B & Q to buy a Mira shower hose, shower slide bar and some Dulux Anti-Fungus Bathroom paint for the ceiling.  Unfortunately the budget didn't extend to getting new mixer taps, so we just kept our old one in situ and gave it a good de-scaling!

Ready for Action!
The mould on the ceiling was treated with a bleach solution to clean it off and allowed to dry.  Loose paint was scraped away and edging that had come away was restuck.  After the surface was prepared, a coat of the paint was applied.  It instantly gave the bathroom a face lift.  I wondered why we hadn't done it years ago!  It was a vast improvement on the thinned down emulsion applied by George Wimpey.  Ian cleaned the grout and replaced the silicon sealant making the stall look as good as new again.

The shower kit was easy to fit.  The rail bolted in to the universal fixtures in the unit.  The hose and the shower head fitted easily together and into the mixer taps.  It really was as simple as that to revamp our shower unit.  No plumbing skills or special tools were needed to completely modernise our shower.

Mira 360.
The Mira 360 Shower Head really is revolutionary.  The head turns easily through 360 degrees with four different sprays which can be accessed instantly.  Each one is very different and gives a unique experience, much like the showers you find at spas!  You simply flip the head through 90 degrees allowing the water to flow through a different set of holes or aperture.  It is very clever and allows you to change the mood of your shower experience in an instant.

The shower head looks good and is modern and striking.  A real statement in your bathroom.  My girls all love the new shower.  The different sprays are useful for different purposes.  Burst is great for rinsing shampoo from hair.  Storm is wild and re-invigorating!

Storm!
It really was very easy to make our old, tired shower room look new and exciting again.  I'd recommend taking a look at Mira's Showerheads for an instant revamp.  The Mira 360 is priced at £69.90.  Other accessories are available such as the 1.25m hose which has an RRP of £30 and the Slide Bar at £48.

DIY Project 1 has been a success...now, what to revamp next!!

The Quinny Yezz...Our First Thoughts

I must admit that I was not convinced by the idea of the Quinny Yezz prior to receiving it.  I had visions of a flimsy buggy that was all gimmick and no substance.  How wrong I was!  I should have had more faith in Quinny's vision of an urban pushchair that promises to turn the city into a playground.  Its simplicity is genius!  From the fabric seat unit to the glass fibre frame to the skate style wheels, every component works towards creating an ultra light weight, efficient, extremely manoeuvrable and fun mode of toddler transport.

The choice of colours is impressive, and my Road Grey selection did not disappoint me.  It is very smart, utilitarian and stylish, but if you like your pushchair to reflect a sunnier disposition how about Yellow Move or Pink Hybrid?

Putting the Yezz together was very simple.  The three wheeled frame went up easily and the all in one fabric seat unit attached using plasticised rope rings.  It was very straightforward to do, but required a bit of strength.  Once done the Yezz feels really sturdy and well made.

The Yezz is a good size.  The handles are great for myself at 5' 11", no stooping required for once!  The seat unit is wide, comfortable and spacious.  It does not recline, but the give in the fabric seems to provide a cocooned support which Freddy really enjoyed.

The buggy has no basket underneath but there is a good sized pocket on the seat back that would fit a purse, mobile phone, keys, a drink and snack.  And a wide handled bag could be put over the handle unit if necessary.

The Yezz is unbelievably manoeuvrable.  It can be spun through 360 degrees in the tightest of spaces.  Yet it still feels very stable and sturdy.  My husband has enjoyed testing out its capability and is very impressed with this aspect of the Yezz.  He thought the design was excellent from a practical point of view.  Even with Freddy's weight in it, the buggy moves smoothly with the lightest of steering.  The braking system is foot operated, press the brake on one wheel to lock the wheels, the other releases the brake.  Simple and efficient.

This is the lightest buggy I have ever had.  It is just 5kg in weight, yet the stability is not compromised.  An integral shoulder strap means that the folded pushchair can be slung over a shoulder and carried with ease.  Perfect for anyone using public transport.  Also, it is great if you need to carry your baby in the buggy up and down stairs on your travels.

So far, I haven't tested the Yezz outdoors.  I am hoping that the Yezz will be my "days out" buggy.  I can see it being great for theme parks and attractions.  Freddy walks a lot nowadays but when he gets tired enjoys being pushed around and generally takes a nap!  I think having such a light buggy will prove invaluable.  It'll also be great for shopping centres where you have to negotiate tight spaces and stairs.  Carrying the Yezz + Fred is a breeze!  The only problem is that there is nowhere to hang bags or put shopping.  My husband will once again become my shopping pack horse!!  The Yezz will take up minimal boot space, which is a positive when hitting the shops.

It doesn't come with a raincover as standard, but the hood is a good size.

Priced at £175 this is a unique, stylish answer to any city mum's baby transport problems.  It is a solution for anyone looking for an ultra-light, ultra stylish pushchair.  It is suitable for babies aged 6 months and over.  Freddy is at the top end of the weight limit and I've been impressed that he has so much space and comfort when he is in the buggy.

So far, so good for the Yezz!

I Totally Fell For It!

2012 almost started with a visit to A & E last night.  Usually it is one of the kids who does something daft causing enough concern to contemplate a casualty trip.  But this time...it was me!

I was on the phone to my eldest son who wanted to speak to his dad who was upstairs redecorating my ensuite bathroom.  So, instead of my usual trick of bellowing like an old fishwife for Ian to come downstairs, I decided to take the phone up to him.  Whilst continuing to chat to Joe, I did what I do 100 times a day, and stepped over the stair gate that leads into the hall.  Unfortunately for me, the gate hadn't been shut properly and as leg number two swung over, the gate opened, tripped me up and catapulted me from vertical to horizontal in a split second.

Smacking down onto laminate floor isn't fun.  My left knee, right big toe and right wrist took the full impact, slapping down onto the unyielding floor, with me ending up in a unceremonious heap in my hallway.  In my usual melodramatic manner I began shouting for help!!  One by one, the kids came down the stairs took one look at their mother lying splayed on the floor, and burst out laughing.  I'm surprised none of them grabbed their cameras.  So much for sympathy! I can't blame them really, because in times of trouble I turn to humour...so the sight of me rolling around, flailing my limbs and shouting "I am broken," is probably pretty funny.

Megan got onto NHS Direct online and questioned me about my symptoms including questions such as "Are you conscious?" and "Is there a bone protuding through your skin?"  Think we'd have noticed either of those, but you can't be too careful!  Kizzy fussed around with cushions and Slankets to provide comfort...bless her! Freddy tried kissing it better!  Ella sat with me (giggling!)  Ian, who was up to his neck in paint, didn't even come down to rescue his wife, thinking we were just messing about and not serious.  So when he did finally make it downstairs was actually a bit shocked and a little guilt ridden to see my wrist.  A big blue lump was sticking out from the inside edge, just below my palm.  I had adopted the claw pose, unable to move my fingers and had apparently gone a funny colour.

Ian is very much a "quick get to hospital now!" type, whereas I'm an "I'm fine!" type.  We reached a compromise.  I told him that if I'd broken anything it'd still be broken in the morning and we can re-assess things then.  The idea of hospitals really doesn't do it for me.  Waiting around for hours in a waiting room full of ill people is only worth doing if absolutely necessary.  My lumpy, painful wrist and immobile fingers did not constitute necessity!  I nursed my poorly arm (but refused the offer of putting frozen peas on it because I only had Bird's Eye Petit Pois and they are way too expensive to waste!)  It hurt a lot, with shooting pains jabbing up to my shoulder whenever I moved it.  All I could think of was that this was my right hand...my writing hand, my toothbrush holding hand, my bum wiping hand, MY MOUSE CONTROLLING AND TYPING HAND!!!  Noooo!!!

I gave up and went to bed, by now feeling the effects of my stunt work in my hips, shoulders, back and neck. Oh the joys of getting older...I'm not as limber as I used to be....I felt positively brittle!!  Thankfully, clearly sensing his Mummy's limitations, Freddy did not climb all over me all night long.  In fact he slept better than he has done for months.  So I rested my arm that had now settled into a deep, burning ache.

This morning, my wrist feels a lot better.  It didn't go black or drop off overnight, which I take as a positive sign!  I can wriggle my fingers again and as long as I don't twist it or pick up anything heavy, it's OK.  So my self-diagnosis is that there are no breaks.  Ian is still unconvinced as it does look a bit misshapen although the blue lump is now less pronounced.  But as long as I can do my one fingered typing and use my mouse then life really will go on as per normal!

I hope not to have too many repeat performances of my tumbling.  Or if I do I'll have to adopt a tuck and roll technique to the landing, rather than the rather unsympathetic drop and slap.  I'm still in one piece albeit a little jarred, battered and bruised so for now, all is well!  No extreme sports will be featuring in my 2012 Bucket List though!!

Making Shower Time Safe and Fun

The bathroom is the ideal setting for family fun time. However to ensure that both toddler and parent have a good time Mira has partnered with parenting expert Sue Atkins and created some top tips to keep bathroom tears at bay.

Top Five Tips to Bathroom Happiness:

·         Children thrive (and behave!) when they know what to expect from the bathroom, the secret being to plan ahead, think how often you want your kids to shower or bath and then create your routine.

·         Prepare for shower time by having everything ready from toys, bath solutions, creams, powders, towels and whatever else you need before the water is run.

·         The key safety tip for children in the shower is to keep them supervised at all times; keep a constant check on the water temperature, direct the shower flow away from their eyes and keep them calm and still so they don't slip. The Mira Miniluxe with Diverter is designed to be cool to the touch, reducing the risk of your child being burnt in the shower.

·         Play your child’s favourite music in the bathroom so they associate getting ready for their shower with enjoyment and fun. Get your kids to choose the toys they’d like to play with in the water to make the whole experience a positive one. Try rotating toys and introduce new ones so they have a lovely surprise and don’t get bored with the same ones each night.

·         The shower is a good place to develop good water skills, so play gentle splash games and make up songs with actions that involve pouring water over their face and heads. The Mira Discovery with Diverter’s innovative two way diverter allows you to switch between two different outlets, which is great for family fun in the bath when your child may initially be frightened by hot water.

Mira has a range of “child friendly” showers, trays, enclosures and accessories that retain child safety measures so explore them at www.mirashowers.co.uk.

Watching the London New Year Fireworks on TV at  00.08am on New Year's Day.

2012 Resolutions, Hopes and Fears

So here it is, 2012!  I saw the new year in dancing with Freddy and Kizzy whilst watching the amazing London  fireworks display on TV to officially launch the Olympic Year.  I felt really positive and excited about a brand new year...I must have been swept away on group euphoria!  I don't drink, so I can't blame the alcohol for my warm, fuzzy glow.

This year is going to be quite momentous for us McD's.

We are waiting for Ian's hospital appointment for the surgery that should fix all the problems that came to light last year when he had a health scare.  After numerous tests they have finally found a blockage that can be lasered away.  Fingers crossed it won't be too awful...but I'll be in my best nurse mode to help him get back on his feet (after all who'll be the housework if he's incapacitated hehe!!)

Freddy, who is the king of developmental procrastination, will have to potty train and self wean this year.  Then we can start thinking about getting him into his own bedroom and sleeping through the night!  EEK!!  He'll also need to get his first haircut *sobs* I love his curly, blonde locks but he does look a bit like a girl!

Ella has her GCSE's and will be applying to attend a new Sixth Form College in a larger town 15 miles away.  That will be a big change, and for someone who isn't the quickest at getting ready in the morning it will be quite a challenge!

Megan graduates this year and is already trying to find a post-graduate scheme for September.  It's exciting to think that my little girl is in her final year of university.  Where did the time go?  She'll be moving on to pastures new, getting a flat of her own and making her own living.

Joe is getting his pay rise this month and will hopefully stop borrowing from the Bank of Mum and Dad.  We might actually get to spend some cash on ourselves soon!  That'll be a first.  I only saw my son on about a dozen occasions last year.  This realisation shocked me a bit.  So I'll make the most of every moment that I see my beautiful boy in 2012.

Kizzy's resolution this year is to learn to swim!  I blame myself for her lack of water skills, I hate swimming pools and getting changed after swimming.  So she rarely gets to go. But this Christmas I got her to swim six widths of the fun pool at Ribby Hall!  She is so close we need to take her more often to consolidate her new found ability.

For me, I want to get to grips with the health and weightloss which has been my focus for a while now.  I need to step it up.  My Cyber resolution will be to take part in the 366 Project.  Not sure if I'll be able to do it  or not, but I'll do my best!  If I don't manage to post everyday, I'll do it when I can.

The only blot on the 2012 landscape is those darned Mayans and their prediction of Armageddon!  Damn their calendar that finishes with the Apocalypse on the 22nd December this year.  Just in case they are right, I fully intend to live everyday of this year to the fullest of my ability.  I intend to have fun.  Smile a lot.  Spend quality time with my family who I adore.  Cherish my husband.  Enjoy having my parents in my life.  Enjoy every minute...because you never get the time back once it's gone.

Happy New Year to you all!
